Why two colors of coolant hose?

Hi
We have a very nice day in the Northwest. Went to fetch a part for the truck top down, wind and sun.
The throttle wanted to stick causing the rpm at idle to set about 1000 rpm high, blip the foot feed and it would usually come down. Pulled over on the way home to investigate and while under the hood, I hear a POP and a p_ss_ng sound.
Found the top hose spraying water from a couple of pin holes.
I managed to get the pressure off and wrap the hose with black tape from the trunk kit and got home. I thought I had a set of used hoses that came from the previous owner, but must have done the right thing and tossed them.
SO, the real question. What is the difference between the green hose (which is currently installed and leaking) and the black hoses. I assume green was original (costs more)
Are they worth the money difference? Any insights on best deals?
Thanks

No. Unless you like total original, go black.

Hi There Norton47;

Relative to Your Name; Does that mean you own a "Norton"? Just Curious:

Relative to the Green vs. Blk Hoses: In my opinion; Its as you say; Green was the Orig. Color / Blk is not: I guess it simply costs more to mfg Green Hoses cause Blk ones are made in Volumn; Therefore cost less:

One of these days; I`ll probably change my current. perfectly Good Blk hoses to Green; One of these Days? I have no clue about the Quality differance, If any?

They do look nice!

Thanks for the insights so far
And yes that is my other British passion.
I have a 74 Commando and I am restoring a 1947 Model 18 500cc single.

AND if you own a TR250 like mine, you would give your left one for a set of black and yellow striped hoses!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/winner1.gif
