Why pick on Fram?

The thing about anecdotal evidence is just that- anecdotal.

I for one would love to see not only a disection of the filters, but some sort of lab testing of filters including:

1. filtration and flow new
2. filtration and flow after simulated 3000 miles (heat, contaminantsa and all)
3. same after 7500

...and if you go longer than that, you just don't care IMHO

This would have to be done with many samples of each filter to ensure no statistical anomolies.

As an aside, we all have know someone like Uncle Ted who used a Fram every time and ran all his cars over 200,000 miles, or Cousin Bob who used a Fram and threw a rod 3 weeks later. There are so many variables

Anecdotally, I use AC Delcos in my GM cars and used Motorcraft in my Ford (dearly departed and not missed) cars. I have never had an oil related failure...and I drover the ever-loving daylights out of every car I ever owned.

Here is a cut open Fram.

Nice one - now cut one of its competitors open & display them side-by-side please.

Working in it. The FRam was $2.52. The Nap gold was $8.00. I can't get myself to doing it just yet . I happened to have this one. I'll get the other one this week.

Maybe the guys at Napa will sell you a damaged one cheap. It's worth a try.

The NAPA is made by WIX (Dana).

It's much higher quality than the Fram. Wix and K+N are the only filters I'll use in my B (#51068 if anyone is interested for the Wix, HP2004 for the K+N).
