So, here I am working on a Spriget for a new customer, converting from wires to disc wheels, new brakes, sway bars and so on.The young man who owns the car had supplied pretty much all the parts, including a prepared disc wheel diff, with new wheel cylinders and so on.Late Saturday night, I was fighting a leak at one of the wheel cylinder to brake pipe connections. Turns out the pipe had fractured right at the bubble flare. Of course I don't have the correct size, length, or fittings, and the owner does not either. I sent an email to a buddy of mine who has a beautiful 120, and was going to an invitation only show this morning. Stuffed into my mailslot this morning was a length of pipe. Unfortunately, it was too short. I called another customer with a nice TD, and he is also building a special. He did not have any pipe, but drove around upper Montgomery County trying to locate some proper line. He ended up borrowing a nice bubble flare tool, and driving 30 miles to deliver it to me. Problem solved, and once again, the tight knit community of LBCs has come to the rescue of me, and by extension, a stranger that they may never meet. How cool is that. And the impossible has been done, and on a Sunday too.
