Why I love my midget......

Really, really bad day. Its Monday. My husband's mom has been sick all weekend and we have been dealing with that. This morning the neighbor who we asked to check on her called and said she had collapsed on the floor and was unresponsive. Called and ambulance to have her admitted to the hospital. Found co-workers to cover my classes, checked out, dealt with all the paperwork etc. forgot to eat all day and by 5:30 after all the stress etc. my head was pounding and I was too stressed to think clearly. So I came home and took Idgy for a drive to the garden. Beautiful sunset, full moon rising over the river, peas and beans are sprouting. Man, what a way to clear the head. Stopped and picked up a bite to eat while I drove around in the country. Top down, warm breeze, full moon....got home about an hour later and its amazing how much better I feel. Now, I'm ready to face what comes next. Thanks for letting me share. T:smile:

Yeah, I think a lot of us *get* what you're talking about.

A little Brit roadster can be great therapy.

Hang in there!

Spridgets are good for the soul, no question. Hang in there!

After botching the respray on the front on my car, I was feeling really frustrated. So, I put the top down, filled up the tank with gas, and went for a "spirited" drive. When I got back home the paint job suddenly didn't look so bad, and I decided not to even consider respraying until next year.

For sure, I recently got mine running properly and find myself going for many quick trips in it on weekends to relax.

"Hey honey, our friends won't be over for another 1/2 hour? Be back in a few!"

Good for what ails ya.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif It sure takes care of the cobwebs too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Even with wires dangling from the dash,it is a great feeling to ride around for a while with the wind in your hair. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I've noticed that the Midget has a tendency to want to take the "long cut" to get to work at times. Tricky thing, you try and control it but it just knows what's good for you.

Even slow is wonderful, exhaust sound is great and the world is good.

I can't wait to get my Sprite up and running for this reason alone, I have never had a convertible classic.

I did have a Vette that I would really only drive for pleasure and I am sure my experience was also similiar to yours (in a different Vette kind of way),you could really just get out there and relax and enjoy your surroundings and take a break from it all.

It's really best to drive when you have no set destination and no reason to be driving.

Stay strong and I hope things get better.

Rachael

sometimes I like to sit in mine in the garage...eventhough its on jack stands and has no seats. Its always nice and peaceful and I get to daydream about what it will be like when its finished.

I cant wait to crank the 1275 and see what I have to work with.

I had a '00 Toyota MR-2 Spyder awhile back....man that thing was fun to drive. Every time I see one it brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye....never should have sold that car /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Hopefully the sprite will be as much fun to drive

I drove my mg for the summer of 1999 and that is what made me decide to keep the little one and do the total redo on him. The mdget in the evening with the top down is the absolute. The warm wind blowing and the purr of the engine and all is right with the world. The only thing I have found similar is sailing, its one of those zen things. The hours spent sitting in a spridget do not count toward the finite days of a man's (or womsan's) life. My dream is to have the midget tow the boat to the lake, I named her miss spidget 4 years ago after I bought her and learned to sail and was smitten with her.

I know what you mean. My best friend's dad went nuts back in 1986 and bought a brand new MR2 with all the extras on it, then had then turned around and payed another 4k to some shop to do some more work on it (this was a brand new car took lots of guts to let someone modify it, this voided warranty and all). That was absolutely the fastest ground vehicle I have ever been in. We did 156mph on interstate I26 between two exits according to the speedometer. That is the fastest I have ever been and not be in the air.

the handling of those mid engine cars was insane...you think turn and it was already headed that way. I didnt have the '00 Spyder long enough to do too much to it...a TRD intake, exhaust and short throw shifter. Basicaly as a driver it was point and squirt...I had plans to autocross it but never got around to it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Yeah, I take saturday and sunday mornings, before the girls wake up and drive around the lake. Stop and get a coffee and doughnut at the little nook near the marina, then get back on the road again. There's no traffic, it's usually cold, sometimes even drizzly, but the top is always down and the smile is always there.
Starting a day like that is priceless. I love my Midget.

Sounds like you all own them for the RIGHT reasons too /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grouphug.gif !! Always take the back-road/scenic route /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif ! Sprigets are at their happiest there and will in turn make you happy too /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif !! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
