Driving along today and passed a 1936 Auburn Boat tail. Very nice!!! I spun around to get a better look and the owner was just coming out. I asked if he did the work or purchased it. He said it was his Dad's and he inherited it. I was furious I didn't have a camera. Called my husband to tell him about it and he said, "What about your cell phone?" DOH!!!!
Regardless it was a really cool car!!!
 
Missing a great picture happens to all of us (although I have used my camera-phone at times).
I had a very big bear in my yard on Monday but by the time I'd gotten a camera, he was gone.

A real Auburn Boatail Speedster sold for about $450,000 at a recent RM auction.
But there are some very nice replicas available too (they sell for $120,000+)
 
But, was it real or a knock-off? There's lots of beautiful kit car '36 Auburn Boat Tails out there...here's one:

Real or knock off..I'm still amazed he parked it on a busy street. It appeared to need some minor work..not a concourse car by a long shot. More like a nice old car that needed some clean-up. Paint was dull, super-charged emblem worn. Bumpers had minor pitting. I wouldn't know a reproduction from an original on such a short look...but I can't imagine anyone driving an original AND parking it on the street..unless he's totally clueless.
 
Always carry a camera in all of your cars, one of those cheap, one use types will do. If you are involved in a accident, esp. one not your fault, take pix and tell your insurance agent/investigator you have pix. This can save you a lot of time and trouble. And $$$. Ask me how I know.

A flatbed truck stopped over in our sleepy little burg the other day with nothing less than an un-restored 300 SL Gullwing perched precariously on the back. Gawd, it was beeyooteeful. Part of an estate sale out of Houma, La, that was going to Houston. The next day, same truck, same station, with an old wooden Chris Craft on it's original trailer. Same estate. To think someone was just sitting on that stuff all those years. The driver said he had some more hauls, never saw him again.

In the late 80's I lived in Anchorage and a guy in the neighborhood had a Gullwing just sitting in the driveway, sometimes under a tarp, sometimes not. Can't remember if it helped form the snowdrifts in the winter but I suspect it did. Unrestored, never saw it run. It was one cool car.
 
I always carry a camera but didn't realize it until about 6 months ago - it's called a cellphone. Most have camera capability - don't know what I was thinking? Probably the same thing when I got lost (you can stop laughing now.) and called husband for help. He responded by asking me "Maybe you aught to try your phone GPS?" I stumbled and said something to the effect about not getting a signal to which he said okay write these directions down. When I got home he simply said "Gee it's funny you could make a call but couldn't use the navigation system on your phone. Perhaps they use different towers?" Sometimes it just isn't necessary to make your own stupidity public.... :cheers:

My husband used his cell phone today to snap these pictures in the heart of downtown...seems one of our buildings has some new tenants.

Great photo. Is that what I think it is? An eagle? Possibly a hawk... Really need to know as it has not become fodder for confusion....
 
This is one of a pair of falcons that have taken up residence in one of our downtown buildings. Seems they appeared a couple of years ago and are quite helpful keeping the pigeon population down in our downtown area.
