Who's windshield do we buy?

Well, the unthinkable happened, (odd expression) the gentleman installing the second rubber (another shop wrecked the first rubber) cracked our windshield! And now we need to buy (and pay for) a new windshield. The question is, which vender? Moss, VB, Sports and Classic’s are all around the same money, does anyone have a preference?

And this Gentleman is paying the bill I should hope.

Bet all the windshields come from the same place/plant/factory/whatever.

We were duly warned about potential problems beforehand. I must admit that I brushed them off with the same cavalier wave of my hand that I used to dismiss my mother’s ā€œwhat if your face froze with that expression.ā€ He is a competent restorer who offered to do this as a favor, it really did seem like a fluke. He was truly horrified, and offered to pay, but it felt like it was just ā€˜one of those things.’ We will give him the new one to install rather than chance him seeing the car running around and know that we took it somewhere else. Funny, there was a small crack across the other corner that just peeked above the rubber…probably would have driven me crazy anyway.

I just bought a late model windshield (roll-up window car) from VB and had an off-duty glass guy (friend) install it.
No problems at all.

Just did the research on this...You basically have 2 options for new glass, I think. You can go the aftermarket route--they are pretty much all sourced in china or taiwan--and all the big shops carry them for around $150-$200. Or, you can go OEM, which is Triplex, and that is a whole lot more. Few vendors stock Triplex, and they tend to ship only freight (which adds about $100 to it). Total will run you about $450. PM me if you want the info on the latter solution.

I get windshields from Moss via UPS all the time! & I ship them via FEDEX Ground all the time.

Which Bugeye do you have? There are 2 different windshields for them, depending on frame

Mine are well within your $150-$200 price range.

I got a Triplex from Moss about 6 years ago, and it's not the nicest piece of glass I've ever seen. There are areas that seem to have never come clean despite being subjected to every cleaner and solvent I can find.

I will do so tomorrow...just ordered 2 different ones today, 1 for an MGB & 1 for aa Spridget.
