im looking for a big healey since my spirte isent quite big enough (im close to 194 cm high) and ive gotten a baby girl - no room for dipers or her.

ive been planning to buy one from california but then i wuld have to pay about some 6-9 000 us dollers for a driver or project car - (about 5-7000 euros)
THEN (presuming ive found one and dident get cheated) i wuld have to pay some 2500 us dollers to get it home and pay the taxes on it -
thats a cost of about 10.000 - 12.000 us dollers TOTAL
and then i wuld have to start working on it

now ive been offerd a 100-4 1954 thats a project car like the above one - only this is in Denmark already, all paied and all and this is costing me about 12.000 us dollers -
same amount but without the trubble and all -

so im asking all you that got early healeys - shuld i stay away from this and try for a mid 1960 3000 insteed ?
or is this a nice old collecters car that wont drop in value and all - ?
I wanted a 4seater but guess i can live without for a few years more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

thanks and appriciate any input

Soren, If you can locate a set of drawings or a picture there were some Four place 100 cars built for growing families ,also there is a childs seat made for them too but I have never seen one.A fellow here in southern calif Modified his to those standards some years ago and the car is excellent.--FWIW---Keoke

$12,000 for a 100-4 that is, as you say, a project seems very high. How good or bad is the car?

Re: whoo help guys please regarding healey 100-

Of course this reply is very subjective. I think the 100 is a better choice.Well I bought one. It has prettier lines and for me being the beginning of the line is less messed about with!
It is said that the BN1 had some weak points, gearbox and axle so perhaps a BN2 might be better.Virtually all parts are available. I get mine from AH spares in England.

in a 10 range i wuld say that this car is prolly arround 5-6ish - all is there the car need to be broken down and a bit of rust made - and prehaps get some new (used prolly) carpets and such -
then also i wuld prolly want to take the engine appart and go through that aswell -

Is there anyone in europe that have some used spare parts for this model of car ? i dont plan to make it perfect just wants it as a good and sound driver

thanks

Re: whoo help guys please regarding healey 100-

Soren, unless you plan to fly to the US to inspect it a local car seems to be a safer bet. The classic car magazines are telling us that France is a cheaper place to buy these cars; at least its closer than the US, and the south is pretty dry.
Simon.

Re: whoo help guys please regarding healey 100-

ohh simon - I havent read in any of those magasines - if you have a few adresses i wuld be greatfull. -

but some guys from Denmark DO take that flight to the us to find their car (then it is very nice and cost about 19.000usdollers) - because the plain ticket is only some 1½ thousand dollers - and them u can easy make home from buying a more expensive car here in denmark.

or at least thats what they tell me.

Re: whoo help guys please regarding healey 100-

A good weekly paper in France is La Vie de l'Auto.Lots of ads for cars and bits. The ads are self explanatory (I hope) if you don't speak french.
If you buy the car and want me to look out for parts I will be happy to do that.

Are you referring to the four-place 100-6's? I've never heard of any 100's (BN1's or 2's that were built with four seats.
