That is not uncommon Tony, when inaccessible areas in fire zones are later checked for damage. In some cases the people just will not leave or leave too late. However, there is a very large Healey family "The Luckey's" that also live in that area . I have not been in contact with them but hope they are OK---Keoke
 
CNN just showed the house in Poway where the people died. The reporter said they had "some kind of a car repair or restoration operation" and mentioned MGs. None of the 6 or so cars they showed were LBCs. Udo Putske lives in Poway. Anyone hear from him?

Not to sound like a morbid lookie loo but I'd like to see that one out of curiosity.
 
The Putzke live on a different street in Poway according to the AHCUSA membership directory. The people who died were found in a house on Highland Valley Road according to media reports.
 
Not me, but I know the area. There's always one or two and I suspect that with the number of homes lost these poor souls won't be the only ones.

Just got a response from Putzkey, He and wife house and cars are OK. However, club member Bob Farnsworth was not so lucky. He lost three Healey 100's + a Mustang Convertible and his home. on TV (Ch 9 in LA )they just showed the Poway house,
burned TR6 and a couple burned Jag sedans

it was on the top of a big hill, the only house there

Wow what a sad story:
I know some areas have laws against thinning forrests {clearing deadfall} But, I think, law or no law i`d be for clearing a big area around my home if I lived in Calif. Not to mention putting something fireproof on my roof.
May or may not help keep your home from bieng destroyed by fire but at least you`d know you did all possible to prevent disaster.
I wonder if these people were told they needed to exacuate or if they were somehow missed by the system.
Never the less loss of life is a very sad thing.
My thoughts and prayers to ALL who lost because of this disaster.
 
Reportedly these people were told to evacuate and chose to stay. The first person to die told the person that tried to tell him to evacuate to "get the **** off my property". My son in law is a deputy sheffif in San Diego and has been working 16 hour days, mostly trying to get people to safety. He was rewarded, in one case, by a woman turning her dogs loose on him. 2 severe bites on the leg from a pit bull.
