I can't believe it! We set a new record tonight of 106 people online! I figured the old record of 102 was going to stand for a long long time!

I was missing for a week or so and no one noticed that either. The busier a board gets, the less these things are noticed.

It's amazing that the 102 record was broken and MGBE wasn't even down!

As a point of interest, below the subject/poster information for each message there's a number:

Its "#162604 - 13/01/06 10:03 AM" for this one.

This seems to increment, does this reflect the number of posts? This being the 162604th post ever made?

Yes, that would be correct. But from time to time we go back and prune "old" topics that are not relevant to the forum they are in so that number reflects the total posts ever made, not necessarily how many are currently active.

How can posts be more than replies? I'm doing the math, but something isn't adding up!
 
Because replies don't count the first post of the thread. 14,375 first posts added to 100,303 replies to those posts = 114,678 total posts.

I don't know, I wasn't actually watching when it happened.
 
I look over at "who's on line" occassionally & wish there was some way to capture all the 'anonymous' & bring them into the herd!
 
Could be active users who came to the site and then logged in. THe software would most likely count them twice. Once as a visitor viewing the main page, and then again as a logged in user.

Nope, once a person logs in they are no longer reflected in the anonymous section. I can see IP addresses in the who's online section as admin and as soon as an anonymous user logs in as a real user, they show up in the upper section, and not in the lower.

Up until today, I hadn't noticed the Remember me button on the login screen and had to log in every time I came... even if I was only off for an hour. Lots of times I would come back and read a few without signing in. Could be lots of others do the same thing.
 
And, if I'm correct in my assumption, if you have chosen not to be shown as logged in on screen, you are listed as an anonymous user.

Nope, if you choose not to be seen, you still get counted in the count, but will not appear at all in the whose online section. (Well, except that I can see everyone, even those who are "invisible" still show up to the admin, but with an (I) next to their name. But nowbody else can see them.
