In the never-beginning adventure of building a TR3 engine from scratch, I casually told Dave at TRF to put me on the waiting list for a set of Mahle 87mm sleeves and pistons. (I pretty much ruined the existing sleeves getting them out.) Dave said there is a six week or better backorder from Germany. Chatting with Dave yesterday on the tech line at TRF, the Davestir dropped a bomblet - the sleeves are in the mail! Well, I don't even know if I am gonna proceed with this project, will be delivering the main components to the machine shop tomorrow for cleanup and testing. Anyway, after my initial shock expression (can't print it here), Dave said not to worry, they can be returned without a penalty. As some of you may know, the Mahle sleeves have pretty much tracked the price of gold as of late. There is a possibilty that I may be sending these back to TRF, or, asking if anyone out there in BritishCarForumland are interested - for what I will have paid, which will be a lot....
