My goodness!! A pair of Indian Tatas!!

It's no wonder some of our "made in India" auto
parts might be a tad lacking in QA.

You can now purchase two entire made in India autos
for $5,000. That's right folks 2 (two), count them,
two- entire Tatas for $5,000.

$5 grand a pair. I know a lady paid $22K for a pair of
store bought, American........nevermind.

$5,000 bucks- Just a little less than I paid for the all
new wires and install for the Six. I coulda had me two
entire autos fer the price of functioning headlamps and
turn signals on my Triumph!!!!

Ummmmph- wait until these Tatas arrive to USA shores.
Gonna kill off what little remains of the American
automotive industry. Oughta put a $15,000 import tax on
them little buggers. IMO

Yea, and they're still $2000 overpriced each. little enclosed mopeds....
 
Kinda goes along with my thinking on Small very economical city only commuter cars. Too bad OUR auto industry hasn`t come up with anything in this line yet. IF these cars get 50 MPG or more I think they will eventualy be a huge hit with consumers everywhere. Would I take one on the freeway here PROBABLY NOT, but I would deffinately like to have one to drive around town for doing short distance errands rather than to drive my SUV for the same purpose. And yes I have a four cylinder vehicle that I can use around town but it gets no where near the 50 MPG id like to see.
Ugly? YES! But to save a little $ and fuel .... I can live with it.
 
Using the British vernacular, I am trying to figure out if the "TATA" name is to be taken as "thank you" or "goodbye"!!! :devilgrin:
 
I cannot argue. We live 12 miles from downtown.
A 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive during rush hour.

Over 60% OF THE VEHICLES ARE SINGLE DRIVER, SUV's.

Just think if they cut the vehicle length in half??

Have you seen videos of the air pollution in Delhi? My son was there for a month in 2006 and got a hacker's cough that took him months to recover from.

So, don't worry, Tinster, by the time it meets EPA and U.S. insurance company standards, it will cost $15,000 more anyway!
 
I look at it this way, nothing is free and one very valuable thing you give up in ANY car like that is personal safety, let alone any creature comforts and the fact that it'll probably die in a year or two, if your lucky, (Remember The Yugo), just to get a few more miles per gallon. I'll keep a little more iron around me and the family. Also, once that car meets the US standards, if ever, it probably will cost $15,000 or better. You could buy 2 "B"s for that! 30 MPG ain't bad! And their value keeps going up!
 
Saw an interview with the head of Tata. Zero interest in bringing the Nano to the US. ZERO. Doesn't need us as a market for those cars. They expect to sell more than they can make right there in India. If pre-orders are any indication then he is right.

As far as safety... They would be a downgrade for us but an upgrade for the targeted audience.
