I stopped in at the bycicle shop today to get some goodies, and in the parking lot, for sale is a 1980 TR7 convertable.
I asked details, and got a contact in case anyone here was intrested.
Here's what I saw.
80 TR7 Convertable
40200 miles (owner confirmed that it is not over 100K)
Bright orange. looks to be original color, but repainted. paint is decent, but far from perfect.
Interior is clean, and fairly decent looking. the only bad spot I saw was the armrest was cracked a lot.
Top is good with clear windows
Owner said it has A/C. I diden't think to look for the control knobs while I was out there, so I have to take his word for it.
30th anniversery edition badge on the glove box door. (how they got 30 years between 54 and 80 is beyond me)
Only bad rust looks to be on the left front fender, behind the wheel opening (small hole, and some surface rust). Rockers are solid with just a touch of surface rust. underside looked decent from looking in from the side.
there are a few little bubbly spots under the paint to be found here and there but nothing that looks very bad.
I did not look under the hood, or hear it run, but it has current registration and inspection
Owner claims back problems make getting in and out hard, and he has a bit of a collection of other vintage cars, so it's time for this one to go.
$6500 firm.
I have no intrest in the sale of this car, just thought I'd pass it along to members here that may be looking for one.
The owner works at (possibly owns) the Goodyear tire center that is in the same building as the bicycle shop in Elmira Heights N.Y.
His work # is (607) 734-1527
I diden't happen to get his name, but it's not a very big shop, so I'm sure whoever answers will know about it. Dropping my name won't help either as he dosen't know me except for talking to him thismorning.
Happy hunting you wedge-heads! hehehehehehehe
