who uses their triumph as an everyday driver?

Before I started my swap I drove my 8 everyday Monday thru Friday....... April thru late October. I rack up between 8,000 and 12,000 mile annually. SO I guess that counts as a daily driver

From the mid 60's to the mid 70's I used my Triumphs as my daily drivers. First a TR4 and then a GT6 for a combined mileage well over 100,000 miles. Over 50,000 miles in my GT6 in one year while courting the girl that is now my wife.

My TR6 is only used on weekends and for evening drives. Over 2,000 miles in the last 30 days.

I do not understand the concept of a low mileage Triumph!

There's a guy with a TR6 here that I see all the time, even carrying lumber in the thing. Looks nice too.

I'd been toying for years with getting a Spitfire as a daily driver for when the weather cools off. It's still a goal of mine.

I currently drive my TR3A to work all week. I log about 7000 miles a year. Before the TR, I used my MGTF as a daily driver in when I lived in California and Florida. When I lived in Virginia and Rhode Island I drove it only occasionally in the winter, but almost daily from mid spring to late fall.

My experience has been the more you drive the car, the more reliable it is.

I wish my car was operational...
even if only one day per month /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Like Tom, I did "way back when" -- as did my dad. That was pretty much the case until about 1978, when I got my first "genuine winter beater" car to keep the Triumphs out of the salt.

I still do that to this day, although I drive the current '62 Herald as often as the collector insurance will allow. First four years I had it, I drove it as much as possible, when it had "regular" insurance. For about seven months after my old Ford Explorer died, it was my ONLY car!

All things considered, I think I'd still rather be driving the Herald daily....

my fhc was my daily driver until last week i took it out of service for a "few" upgrades.

Howdy Folks;

I "DID" drive My TR when the sun was out & the roads were dry; Basically yr round:

The heater worked well enough & the top was nice and tight:

As You folks know; I`m "Carless" now for approx. 2wks and Its Killing Me!!

Drove my TR3A to work for most of 20 years. In fact, I was on my way home from work when it got wrecked (thinking about a date that night rather than concentrating on defensive driving, unfortunately).

And the Stag will be a daily driver as soon as I can get it back on the road. Got a stuck float valve now, plus it looks like I'm going to have to pull the gearbox again to attend to the clutch.

I'm currently sharing daily driver duties this summer between my TR3A and my Ferrari 308, both cars that aren't typical daily drivers these days but they've both been more than up to the task. Also something that nobody here will have trouble believing, but... the TR3A is definitely the more fun of the two cars.

I drive my Spit all the time. I don't have a work commute since I work at home but I've put 7,000 miles on it since I got it in November. They don't salt here so that's not an issue. I did have to run a bead of silicone along the front of the (new) top but since I did that it is impervious to Oregon rain. I try to avoid snow and ice because I don't trust the other guys. Going to the grocery store is always a bit of a challenge!

I am required to drive a work vehicle to and from work 24/7 although not allowed to use it for personal use. Therefore, I depend on the 3 (recently named Grace by the wife) as my main go-fer car after work, weekends, and holidays. She's use to getting a lot of attention while dropping off and picking up the kids at various functions over the years. As a matter of fact tomorrow we take the youngest to get a haircut. Of course this is only possible when the lovely New England weather is being cooperative.

Every day, except when it looks like rain. Top up in the summer time (skin cancer issues).

I am going to sponser a trophy at our club's show this fall. It will be passed from driver to driver every year for the car with the most miles on it. Each driver will have his name listed, type of car and miles driven in the year he won the trophy.

Even though I drive mine nearly every day, I won't win it. The guy who does the hard stuff on my car drives his TR6 about 70 miles round trip from his home every day

I do, electrics and fuel system permitting........

At various times back in the day, I had an MGB, TR4, TR5 and 2 Lotus Elans as daily drivers.

Before I overhauled the engine, the TR4 used to get through 1 Imperial gallon (not the smaller US gallon) of oil per week just getting me to work and back. Ah, the good old days.

I drive 300-350 miles a day, 3 to 4 days a week. Definitely NOT me.
