Who Names their classic cars?

I think she and Chuck set some kinda record time as well. It went like a production shop job!

We just call ours... the yellow convertible (or the MGB), the white convertible (or the alfa), the black car, the toyota (or the truck), and the ford (or the useless pile that needs hauled off).

Bee, "The B", or "The MG". No real name for mine... though, I have referred to it as "White Lightening" on occasion... :jester:

I did name my little boat though...

"underachiever"

We called the Dodge K-car "The dammed Dodge"... Okay ~I~ called it that... 'smits called it the "Dodge Insipid". She wanted a "BolderTint" across the windshield top that read in reverse: "DODGE THIS!"

She's eeevile at times.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]if she pulls the 5 year degree off in 4 years, she can have the LE, they made more [/QUOTE]

Be careful, chuck - Shannon wanted to drive my Euro BMW 323i when she was a Freshman in college - I told her when she got & stayed on the President's List she could....next time it was in my garage was after she graduated from law school!

I'm not big on naming cars, but a few come to mind.
Our first Cortina was the "63 cent car",because I payed
a dollar for it,& then found 37 cents inside of it.
1994 Suburban - "The Bus" or "The Pig"
1960 Anglia is the "Harry O Project",because like his boat,
it sits & sits, but plans on finishing it.
The Datsun B210 has become "The 83 cent car" - found 17 cents inside.

Never named mine, just the B and the C.
My wife has taken a dislike to the C and refers to it as 'that red thing', she never wanted me to buy it and complained bitterly, sorry 'complains'!, complained is past tense /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

We named my current B Clementine...sweet little orange thing until I replaced the interior in her and found a heart shaped pennant with the nane "Dolly" inscribed on it....now she is "Dolly Clementine" or DC for short.

Glad to see someone else remembered David Jannsen and his role as "Harry O"!

but... but... but... it's a C!!! and C is bigger than B and everyone knows bigger is better! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

is it the power bulge that's intimidating her? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

"Are ya happy to see me, or izzat a six-cylinder under yer bonnet?"

I named my first car... a canary yellow 1973 Buick Apollo - the bannana - even had chiquita stickers on each side of the rear window.

Let's see?

The 78B is "the MG" or "the Bee" but I call her Pagan.
The 78 Porsche 928 is "the Shark". Eveyone should know that story by now.
My 4x4 Supercrew is "the Truck" or "ol Blue II".
Wife's Envoy SUV is just called the wifes' SUV (it has no soul)

Older more memorable vehicles:
My 1967 Barracuda Canary Yellow, Called "Blondie" (When I got the car I had to drive it home and for tunes I only hand one 8-track tape by Debra Harry)
A 1972 Caprice Classic Dark Green called "Cecile the Sea Serpent" (Help Cecile! Help! – I’m commming Bennie Boy!)
My 1994 F-150 XL Short Bed PU with it’s Bulletproof Inline Six was “the Cowboy Cadillac”. No frills, no carpet just rubber floor mats and a saddle blanket cover for the vinyl bench seat.
Wife’s 1988 Ranger PU was “Old Blue” the first.

My red '71 GT was Pricilla. My dad was welding on her at the time and thought she had a lot of attitude. This from a man who's GT was Sue, named after a random license plate that he received when he registered the car.

Had a '75B for a short period of time that never had a name cuz it wasn't around long enough to earn one.

My '67 B race car is The Biscuit (SeaBiscuit), because after my first weekend on track, everyone passed her just like in the beginning of the movie. Hopefully as I progress, that won't be the case, just like in the movie.

I am with some of you. A car has to earn a name, or it has to strike you based on some experience, story or car tendency. I have tried naming them outright and it never sticks. It should be like how people in the Bible were named. Peter, the rock, etc. It has to fit with the experience and "behavior" of the car.

The 69 B is "Rosie" after the Gratful Dead song "Ramble on Rose". Of course she's red also!
The 52 TD is "Lord Robert Winston Scuttleshake" or "Winston" for short.
The B is definatly a women, with the temperment to match...
