I would break my wrist gettin my check book out too fast so I could have a crack at making that sucker run........now, where would I hide it? Hmmmm.........

Exactly, where do I hide it. I spoke with him and he says the floors are gone. and a section of the frame is gone.

I'm not surprised about the floors, but it's rather unusual for the frames to rot away on the early cars...unless it sat way too close to damp ground for much too long!? Frames aren't that hard to find (he says, thinking of what's inside and outside his barn.... :whistle: )!
 
Well, after the trip to the boondocks and looking at the car, looks like I'll be bringing it home.
The frame is good but the floors are gone! The drivers seat is almost on the ground. The car has 64K and everything is there in the engine comaprtment. I went with my list of goodies and they are all accounted for.
So this weekend I will be towing it home and tearing it apart. After I pull my list of parts I will entertain everyone elses lists of needs.
My only goal is to recoupe my inital cost of 295.00.
 
I wish someone had bought my wife's old 1968 Spitfire Mk III for $300 when I was trying to sell it a few months ago (advertised it here and on Craigslist). Unfortunately, I ended up selling it for $150 as I needed to find it a home quick due to losing the storage space. It was in similar shape to yours in that its body was shot (floors, rockers and trunk) which was why she stopped driving it but lots of good parts like wire wheels with good hubs. The guy that bought it got it started after almost 20 years of sitting.

I need float chambers with a specific number from an early Spitfire for my 1500 twin conversion. Let me know if you want to sell them or the whole carbs for that fact. I also need the linkages.

A also have a MkI. They are infectious little beasts.

I will now entertain parts request. The motor is complete and turn over by hand. The tranny is complete and shfits throgh all gears.
Suspension, steering and braking are complete.Frame is solid.
