Whitworth / BSW tap and die question???

Mind you, you can also use a thread identifier tool, generally has four sides to it, lets you mate it to the thread to see what you have
 
The main difference between a whitworth bolt and a BSW bolt is the head sizes are different for the same size shaft and thread - whitworth bolt heads typically are one size larger.
 
A Whitworth thread and a BSW thread are one and the same.

BSW stands for British Standard Whitworth.

I guess he meant Whit & BSF. All my spanners are marked with both, for example 1/4W 5/16BSF - and I don't think I've seen a British-made spanner or socket that wasn't.
