Whirling noise from engine compartment in BN2

Hey all,
I know, what does "whirling noise" mean ? Just replaced my fan belt and now have a new noise - best way to describe it as a "whirling noise" which seems to be coming from the generator. I tightened the belt so that it has about 1 inch deflection which is about what the old belt had. I adjusted it again today as before believe it was a little loose as occasionally would get the belt squeal. Now, do I have it too tight ? Sounds just like an electrical motor as the noise increase with rpms. Also I did use a cogged belt this time as had one on hand versus a regular non cogged belt. Could that have something to do with it? Never had this noise until I replaced the belt and also never had a charging problem, just an old belt that was fraying. Thanks for any advice !
Regards,
Mike

Might be a bad bearing in the Dynamo.

Hey y'all,
Thanks to Andy and Keoke. I did squirt some oil in the back of the generator and then got out Tech Talk that I got from Norman Nock back in 2006. It has been my bible to refer to over the past 6 years. Sure enough Norman said the same thing about the oil but then added to make sure the belt was not too tight or you would get a noise out of the bearing. Loosened it a bit and now no noise. Will probably trouble shoot the bearing later on but believe that was my problem. Will have to see if I have it tight enough to not have belt squeal but guess I would rather have a bit of that versus ruining the rear bush. Plus, Norman actually recommended a cogged belt as it works with less tension and less wear on the rear bush.
Thanks,
Mike
