... keep an eye out for right side parts
(both doors,front fender,& front bumper)for
a 2002 Mazda Protege,Teal color.

Uh oh.... That don't sound good. Everybody all right?

Ben,

My Wife's car.She fell asleep on the highway,
hitting the right side of the Mazda against a big rig.
No one's hurt,& we don't want to put in another claim
to the insurance company,so I'm hoping to be able to
relace the parts.The car's still drivable,so we don't
need to find a replacement right away.
This is the car that was hit-&-run by a drunk driver
about a year ago,& again a couple of months ago.We got it
back from the body shop on December 19th.
My Wife told me that the truck driver didn't speak
English very well,& he hasn't filed a claim,so we're
assuming he's either here illegaly,has no license,&/or
any insurance,or all of the above.
We're thinking that it's probably time to start thinking
about replacing it - but with what?

Hmmm... Mazda Protege equivilant..... Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, all similar but not the same....or is the Protege a bit bigger?
Lots-o-options, but I'd stick with fuel efficient, and used. Or... Why not just make her drive the F250? hehehehe...She might win the next round.

I'm thinking Mazda 3,Jetta,Scion XB,Fusion,Five Hundred,
Corolla,Camry.
I have to remember that this isn't for me - my Wife's
decision.I'm thinking we should wait until our Grandaughter
goes back to her mother, then she might not need a car that's
utilitarion.Right now,it's about what she really needs.

Unless you *really* need to buy new, how 'bout a used Mazda Protege?

I've had Protege-types since around 1990; great little cars, with great mpg (35/40). Most recent is my 2000 Protege LX, 1.6L, 5 speed. Never (knock wood) a service call or need for work other than scheduled maintenance (oil, timing chain, etc.).

Some cars seem to get hit again and again, and others never get a dent.

Deer from all over the countryside would attempt to martyr themselves on my old brown Tercel...

Very strange behavior not seen since.

Whilst trying to avoid a strike one evening, I broke hard and steered right...
I avoided the 2 in front but got rear ended by a 3rd

You got rear ended by a deer? What, did you fail to signal?

Deer completely ruined that car.

The rear hit loosened the weatherstripping on the hatchback.
Thereafter it would whistle over 45 mph.

(Eventually disproving the effectiveness of whistling on account of later collisions)

Doug:

No smart car for her.

BTW, I had a Tercel that was a deer magnet as well.

Hmm.. I wonder what it is about the Trecel? I wonder if they like the sound of the ehxaust or something?
Anyhoo.
I'd highly reccomend checking out the XB. We own a frst gen, and my brother owns a second Gen... His being a 5 speed gets slightly better mileage than our automatic (bought used, not much choice), even though his is a bigger car with a bigger engine .
but I still like ours better, it's a bit quirkier than the new one, and it has much better visibility.
He claims to love his too.
