TR4/4A Which way Does the Generator Bracket Go

Ok - finally got my TR4 all together after a valve job and setting the cylinder head to run unleaded. Started right up afterwards (yeahhhhhhh), but I have a squealing from the generator belt. I have tightened it, loosened it to the point it was totally loose and still I have the squeal. Looking back through the pictures I took before I took the car apart, I cannot find one of the generator bracket. So............boys and girls..............Is this installed correctly or bass ackwards?

I lok forward to your replies.

Looks right to me. Is that a new belt? Might it be glazed? On occasion I have wrapped some sandpaper around a stick and used it against a moving belt to roughen it up to eliminate squealing. Obviously, care is needed to be sure you do not get the stick caught on anything.

BTW - You are missing the lock tab for the bolt that holds the bracket to the block:

My TR3A lacked one and sure enough, that bolt finally came loose. I made a replacement on the grinder from a large washer but I think ready-mades are available from the usuals.

Well,
The reason I could not isolate the squeaking from the belt is that the belt wasn't squeaking! What I had was an air leak that I was hearing because there was an extra washer (how did I miss that) between the carburetor block and the carburetor.

Once I fixed that the squeaking stopped and everything was running smoothly.

Thanks for the suggestions.

At least it wasn't a mouse.

I found and interesting way to detect a vacuum leak -- I was cleaning around the intake manifold with a paper towel and it was suddenly sucked against the manifold/head joint in one small spot. Had a little break in the gasket that was leaking w/o noise or other evidence.
