TR6 Which Tr6 repair and restoration manuals to buy?

I recently bought a 71 TR6. I don't have any manuals for dismantling or repairing the various parts that need removing such as the windshield, dash and crash pad, gauges, body panels etc. Befoe I just go out and start buying stuff I don't need I thought I'd ask here first. I'm a competent mechanic and do my own body and paint. I'm not fond of the CDs but am open to suggestions. I'm new to the forum and hoping this is the place to hang out at.

Hi Art,

I am not a mechanic, but I do all of my own work on my car (with the help of many from the forum). I don't like using a cd either, because I like to read where I am more comfortable and I can write notes and such. The manual I use the most is the Bentley Manual. They are expensive, but I watched Ebay and got one for $20. The complete title is: The Complete Official Triumph TR6 & TR250 1967-1976. The ISBN# is 0-8376-0108-8. I preferred the Haynes manual for the electrical. I got one of those for a couple of bucks at a garage sale. I am sure others will write in with their opinions too. Congratulations on the purchase of your TR6 by the way.

I did a search on Ebay and found enough of them that it made selecting one a little overwhelming hence the reason for posting this message. I've had ok luck with my GM Haynes, Clymer and Chiltons but have purchased some assembly manuals that just show an explosion of the parts with no description of how to remove it. I'm just trying to find a decent repair manual plus another that details how to remove various components. The factory GM manuals are great for dismantling parts so I'm looking for a similar manual. I don't know if the restoration manuals go into dismantling or not. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Art the only book to get is the Bentley. The others you can get later . Some times they might have a different blow up or photo to help.

Sorry, looks like the green one since it has the same ISBN#. It's less than $40 with free shipping. Heck of a deal for what you get. Sure I could hold out and look for a cheaper one but I think they're worth every penny. If you guys could confirm I'll press the button.

Thanks,

Art

Thanks for the tip. I learn something new everyday...
I always wondered how that was done, I never asked.

Art:

I am also a non-mechanic Triumph TR6 owner and I
know almost about nothing of auto repairs or restorations.

I have been able to accomplish a few small things by
myself using the Bentley-Complete Official Triumph TR6 &
TR250 1967-1976. I also purchased quality tools.

best of luck,

dale

And Kas Kastner wrote a very splendid reference book for TR owners. I would recommend researching that..
