TR4/4A Which TR4a is better - IRS or solid axle?

With 40somewhatever cars in the fleet, I don't think that any one of them will see enough driving to where you will get annoyed by either's idiosyncrasies.

First of all, there are only 10. Or so. I'd have to count. By point taken.

The fact that you have to count to make sure is telling somehow...

(okay, mostly I'm just a bit jealous...

Yeah, I'm kind of a living breathing cautionary tale Drew. Although, in my defense I'm making good progress on most of them. Kinda anyway...

"Kinda anyway" is good enough for me, Tom.

Hey - I got the floor into the Bugeye finally, that has to buy me some slack right?

Actually -both the IRS and Solid Axle TR4a's are nearly there ready to be mobile again.

"And a definite tendency to get complaints about driving too fast on motoring tours

(Not from me, of course.)"

Randall, I don't recall hearing anything like that...you must have mistaken the comments meant for someone else

Having owned a number of TR6s and currently owning a TR4A solid axle I say that the TR6 is "softer". It has squattier (is that a word) take-off tendencies and gives a false feel of being quicker because of this. The 4A is harsher over bumps (feels more like an MGA 'cause of the rear leaf springs) but I do like how it sits.

Rich is referring to the SoCal TT. A happily motley group of people who like to motor con brio around SoCal.

Thanks for the clarification, Tom. I think I'm on their mailing list, but haven't had the chance to go on a run with them yet.

Good group Randall - would be great to have you join us. You will get zero complaints about your preferred motoring pace
