Which States Salt the Roads

Some areas of Colorado might still use salt but most of the state uses sand and/or mag chloride. Its not exactly vehicle friendly either and is very difficult to wash off. It works really well if applied to the streets before the snow falls, but it can get slippery on its own as well.

Yup. NY uses tons of it. It makes working on anything over about 5 years old a nightmare. nothing comes loose underneath.
All our roads are white, and the cars too. they all have a thick, lumpy layer of crust on em.
Reminds me of when I went out west and saw Mammoth Hot Springs. all that calcium and mineral crust that makes up the srings and gysers in Yellowstone.
You can pick off the flakes.
We have Cargill salt here locally. they have mines under several of the fingerlakes.

I think Michigan builds their roads out of salt. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
