TR2/3/3A which clutch to use?

I'm confused about what clutch I need to buy. I'm building a TR4A engine for my'59 TR3A. When I bought the engine and transmission, it was evident that the engine was from a 4A by the number on the block as well as the cylinder head. Plus, it had the HS6 carbs on it. The engine was mated to a what I presume is a TR4A transmission (crooked shifter), but the clutch was the early 2-4 clutch, not the 4A-TR6 clutch. The crazy thing is that the flywheel on this car does not have all the clutch retaining holes drilled correctly One set screw hole is slightly offset. The previous owner just chose to not use all the set screws, and only attached the clutch to the fly wheel with 5 set screws instead of 6. I guess it worked fine. However I don't want to use this flywheel. I have another flywheel off a TR3 which is fine. So, the question is: Can I use the good 3A flywheel on a TR4A crankshaft? The crank is away at the machine shop. Assuming I can, then which clutch should I use? The 4A-TR6 Clutch, or the TR3 clutch. Frankly I hope I can use the earlier clutch. I had a lot of trouble with the clutch in my TR6 20 years ago.

Cranks are the same, so use either flywheel. Clutch (and starter) has to match the flywheel. So your 3A flywheel & clutch should work fine. Be sure to get the TR3 TOB & carrier too.

There should also be two or three dowels locating the clutch cover to the flywheel. If you want to use the flywheel with the bad bolt holes, have it professionally redrilled to match the clutch you want to use. Only 3 bolts doesn't sound good to me, there was a reason they used so many. And having one break can ruin your whole day!
