In the next couple of weeks, I will pulling the body of the frame on my tr6. While I have it apart, I will repair, sandblast and paint the frame. And I will be doing both the front and rear suspensions, as well as the diff mounts.


Last go around on this I used the goodparts bushings. Should I go this route again? or should I just get some polyurethane? Is this one of those things where they all come from the same place but are just priced differently?
 
I hope your are not using sand on the body you will warp the pannels like you wont believe, Frame ok ,,ask me I know, warped my boot deck so bad had to get a replacement,

soda blasting yes, sand NO

I'm an old guy so some of the softer bushings work for me just fine

The poly bushings definitely improve handling, but, as Don intimated, new rubber bushings will clean it up and still give a more comfortable ride.

Depends on what you're after.
 
In TX I'd strongly suggest you not use rubber bushings, they'll rot in the heat in short order. Poly bushings with stock springs and shocks won't make her uncomfortable but will last much-much longer.
 
The sand blasting is only for the frame, not the body. I will probably send the body out fore blasting, if I go that far.

with the bushings my concerns are longevity, comfort, performance, price in that order.
 
I switched to prothane bushings and have never regretted it.
Obviously, it's a matter of preference.

Has anybody had a problem with creaks or squeaks when using poly bushings in the leaf spring shackles? I replaced my shackle bushings a few months ago and now have developed a new creak when I brake or change direction, backwards to forward. I did put some silicone lube on them during assembly but could have used a lot more.
 
I know I am in the minority, but I have never been a fan of poly bushings outside of the track. They all have their issues, but I have always had more issues with the poly's.
