WHEW!

I put my engine back together and its all back in the car. .060 over, mild cam, longflow filters, Crane pushrods, and by tomorrow, probably electronic ignition. But, I'm, uh, running out of money...Its running as of today, but I just got a call from my mech while at work, something is wrong but its "not a big deal". Since I work nights I'll call him tomorrow after a "good night's sleep".

Worked out a couple of electrical problems and started overhauling my braking system. Electrical system all works now. Clock even keeps good time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

On my 67 GT, I'll glue the rubber rear window rubber molding back up and wipe it off, check the fluids and drive it tommorow, on everybody else's motor/carbs/heads, well now that's entirely another story and way too long to list here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Alan, the good heads are worth a few dollars like the 206 and 295 for the 948 engines. I would expect the others less than that. But by all means let the form know if you find 948 heads 12G 206 or 12G 295.

I'm beat! What did you accomplish on your MG this week?

Just recently read some tips on how spark plugs should/can be gapped at .030 to .035 IF you have electronic ignition (which I do). So, after locating some Champion N9Y plugs at a lawnmower repair shop, I gapped the plugs at .032 and stuck 'em in. Oh, yeah, I reset the timing to 20 degrees BTC with a timing light and now my 69 "B" runs fine - seems to have a little bit more "kick" than it did before.

I fixed my fuel gauge and brake warning light this week, thanks to a bullet connector that came loose in the glove box. Always nice when you start the car, the brake light flickers and goes out, then you realize a few miles down the road that it's reading empty. Ah well, a few minutes to trace the wires on the diagram to see where those two have a common connection, and the stray wire in the glove box was quickly found.

Jack - didn't you see all those 948 heads sitting under a shelf in my metal building?

That was such a fast tour Tony I guess I missed that.

Any head part numbers 12G 206 or 295? Remember I asked first. Hehe.

Worked my butt off for a few months and then this Saturday spent all day tweaking everything. Gonna take some time off from the MG before I burn myself out. I have a ton of work to do in the house that I have neglected. I did however frame out a wall, sheetrocked & spackled. Ripped out the basement stairs & recut all new stringers. Added all new toung and groove panelling & then made a new set of stairs to fit. Added a door separating the basement & the family room.
More to go tonight.

Tony- well shoot, can I be added to the waiting list for a late model MGB head?

Finally, finally, finally, I primed the MGA today! Nearly died in the tyvek bunny suit (92 deg F + 84% humidity in the garage today, but who's complaining?) , but by gum it's done. I love my "A" again.

Rob - I'm taking 3 more heads over later today to have magnafluxed & pressure tested - I'll let you know the outcome next week.

Am also taking several cranks over to have them polished/turned as necessary.

Tony...What machine shop are you using?? Or is that like asking who you use for a babysitter. I hear there is a good one in Cullman. I'm about tired of the Atlanta area shops.

It's really hard to take in all of Tony's cool stuff on just one tour. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Just the excitement of being there is enough to blow the mind of anyone who owns even as much as 5 cars.

The machine shop I use is in Hazel Green - I've gone through all of them in Huntsville & this is the best one I've found.

As of this afternoon, he has 6 of my heads & 5 crankshafts....he'll magnaflux & pressure test the heads so, when I sell them, I don't have to worry about problems in that area. The cranks, he'll polish & grind as necessary so all a guy has to do is buy the correct bearings & install it.

I got the grand tour a couple of months ago. Would you beleive I did not drive, set in or open the door of a single car.

I was too busy trying to hold my mouth shut.

All this neat stuff all over and around and he wants me to look at the bird nest with eggs in it. Sigh. I know, it's just home to Tony.

Next time I go I'm going to have some of those coveralls like the shop lifters have with big big pockets heh.

Hap, I'll be heading down to Greenville tomorrow morning for the BMW Roadster Homecoming (Labor Day weekend). We always get there early to see old friends. I'll try to make it a point to get over to your shop in the first part of the week.

Spent the day yanking broken axle bits out of my LSD. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

I'd rather be driving! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Installed new brake hoses last week and painted an old horse trailer yesterday. Other than that, have just been cruising around in the B and enjoying the weather!
