Moved from California to Arizona in '57 (moved back in '60). I was 9. Didn't go on active duty until '70. Here we (USS Flasher, SSN 613) are in a rare photo off Hawaii:

Most of the time all you would see would be uninterrupted ocean, and if we on the surface, our hull number would not be there.
 
1957: 11 years from being born.
1958: 10 years from being born.

Heck, my parents hadn't even met yet!

However, please let me thank you for your service, Paul, and for sharing the photo!
 
"USS Pawcatuck" - named after Pawcatuck Connecticut???

Now I'll be honest - '57 - Sophmore in High School
'58 - Junior in High School

Did my homework, passed my tests and they let me graduate in '59.

I'll thank you all to be respectful of my years.
