Where to get a custome tine sign made?

I have decorated my office with repro tin advertising signs and some real vintage printed ads (all machine related...except for a Coke ad).

I have made a digital poster of my motorized bicycle in a vintage style and I would like to get it made into a tin sign. Anyone know where I could look for such a thing?

BTW- I started with a digital picture and using only MS Paint and a free online service to manipulate the image, got a pretty authentic look.

Thanks.

Law Guy, I think if you find a printing establishment that does silk screening, they might be able to do it for you. If not, I'm sure they can steer you in the right direction. Here's hoping.

Are you looking for a flat tin-plate sign, or one with relief embossed into the tin?

I would take flat (most of my signs are)...though I would be interested in the cost of an embossed. I imagine it would significantly higher, especially for a short run.

I work in a custom sign shop. Let me look into it! I will get back to you next week some time!
What kind of dimensions are we looking at?

Thanks for looking into it.

I'm think 10 to 12 by 14 to 16- somewhere in that range that fits the length to width ratio.

I'm pretty confident I can produce a modern "reproduction" of the antique tin-plate type sign you are looking for! Embossing it would be out of the question since it would be a "one-of-a-kind" effort! How would you like to hang it? I can either have screw-holes punched into the metal, or double-sided tape could be used to avoid holes!

Sorry for the delay- holes in the 4 corners would be good.

Thanks!

BTW- I can e-mail one of a bit higher resolution

LG: if you have access to a wide format ink jet printer that can print 11 x 17, this is a very simple process. Just buy some 11" x 17" <span style="font-weight: bold">INK JET WATER SLIDE DECAL PAPER</span>, 10 sheets for under $40. If you want a larger size, you can do it in multiples of 11 x 17.

You can either buy a cheap sign and remove the existing decal or just buy some thin steel stock. Be sure to paint or powder coat the surface, then apply the new decal. When dry you can clear coat the surface with clear spray.

go to decal paper for one of many suppliers.

good luck

The one drawback to ink jet water slide decals (which I do create and use quite often!) is that the ink is really not very permanent! In a short time, the colors will fade and discolor, leaving a less than desirable, faded and miscolored print. For it to last, much more "permanent" inks are required!

I printed them on a Roland printer (specific to sign-shop apps.) that uses a permanent ink for signage, printed on a vinyl medium, and applied to a 1/16" coated metal sign blank! I still have to drill the holes for LG!
