TR2/3/3A Where to buy steel TR3A battery box?

I recently ordered a steel battery box from Moss and it came with no brackets on the back for the dash mount connection. I talked to Moss and they explained that is the way BMH makes them. Is there any place to order a good steel battery box that fits well that is complete, and not horribly expensive?

Has anyone tried the battery box from C2CFabrication? The picture on their web site doesn't show much of the box so I can't see if it is complete. Thanks!
Regards,
Bob

I bought from TRF 4 years ago, and it was also missing the brackets. I had to remove them from the old and weld them on the new.

Thanks John! I may need to do that too, but my box is so rusted I'm not sure how good they are. Also, it is hard to tell exactly where the brackets should be welded on. Could you give me the measurements of where to locate the brackets on the box? Thanks!
Regards,
Bob

Here is everything I took as a reference before I removed the old box. The odd one with the wire tab is looking up from below. The tabs are fairly simple if you end up having to fabricate them yourself. That's what I did for the wire loom tabs. What I did for a lot of these trivial parts is I kept all the old sheet metal body parts, and cut them up as I needed to fabricate new. That way i at least got the correct gage metal...

Good luck!

Edit...

Interesting. Recently there was a thread on the overdrive relay mounting. I see the holes for the relay screws were in the battery box for my TR3 (without OD). They were plugged with rubber stoppers. So I guess all the bodies were ready for overdrive. I did not put the holes back in the replacement box.

Yes TRF boxes do have those brackets - a little heavier gauge metal too.

The TRF battery box is a good unit. However I have replaced two of these ( different cars) and have found that it is very difficult to remove and then replace the very top portion of the "box unit". This would be the part at the very top that angles back forward and forms the drip rail for the hood/bonnet. If you are interested I will try to show you how I cut the top of the box off and left the original upper part on the car and then welded the box in along that line where I cut it.

Charley, that would be a GREAT help!! I was thinking about cutting off the top portion. So it would really help me to see pictures of how you installed yours. I'm trying to replace the battery box without messing up the paint and stuff along the top of the bonnet area. Thanks!
