Where can I Get a Thermocoupling??

Hi all,

I have rebuilt the engine for my 1960 BT7 and am now putting on the final "touches" before I re-install it.

My question is this. In removing the thermocoupling assembly on my head, it was damaged. I can't seem to find anyplace that sells new or rebuilt ones.

Any ideas??

Nisonger Automotive (914) 381 1952 will rebuild your old gauge and put a new end on it.

Make sure you send along a new firewall grommet so they can put it on the capilary tube before the end goes on.

Just a tip here for those considering having their dual guage rebuilt. Can't vendor bash, so no names here, but a word of warning nevertheless. I recently sent my dual guage to a well known rebuilder, for overhaul and new capillary tube. It came back looking great. But the other day, while installing it, I dropped the guage light into the guage. Figuring that this was not a good thing, I decided to take the guage apart enough to retrieve the bulb. First thing off was the bezel. To my surprise, it came off very easily, and no wonder-the inner gasket had not been replaced, the remnants of the old one were there, crusty and flaky, no seal at all. Well, that's not to reassuring. Next, I removed the screws on the sides of the case to allow the works to slide out. As I carefully slid out the works, I could see that they were covered by a layer of rust. Apparently, aside from the new capillary tube, and a shiny case, no real work was done. The guage does work, but the temperature side is on again, off again. And folks, this was not cheap. So what's the message? Talk with the proposed rebuilder and find out in advance exactly what is included in the price. Understand at least the broad strokes of what's in your instruments so you will know what is being offered. Better luck to you. I'm afraid I've wasted some money.
