Is there only a half dozen of us with MGs on this forum? Seems like the same few guys/gals post anything anymore. Just wondering. :confusion: PJ

Forum posts in all cat.s are slower. There's about dozen regulars that post in different cat.s. Too many other things going on in life I guess

I've noticed that as well. This is my favorite forum with lots of experience and solid answers, but it needs more traffic.

Ducky the '74 B-GT and I are here, but guess we just don't have much to say, and Ducky is currently running like Jack the Bear (that saying was big before Ducky was built). It is 'Ducky' because the color was changed by the original owner to Green Mallard...

Dang! The Welsh Dragon!

Oh no! Just realized, it's the Rampant Lion! Should have realized from the ecurie ecosse. Sorry about that...

Stu is here as am I.... just not jumpin' in on every post in th' forum!!!

c'mon, kids, there's sooo much in the archives it gets BORING to hammer out keys for stuff we've been thru too many times before.

Not that it gets boring to cajole and hint, just that sometimes we just don't respond. Or th' response is a ~POKE~ to do some diggin' for the answers already here.

Good to see you're still vertical, Stuart!

And since when have you not had much to say? :jester:

I am also still here. Just not posting much on the forums. Still a great place to check for great people and info! Bob

Still here and read posts but have not had much to say. "little car" is running good but too hot to drive an MGA around in our area till fall. Have had the TR4A out some and if I did half as well in the heat as the car I'd be out more!

Cheers,
Irene

Hi All- I'm new here, but by no means a 'newbie' to wrenching. Former mechanic- and own a few antique vehicles. I recently acquired a 79 Midget. Loved them all my life, as well as most other old cars. Had a chance once to buy two abandoned Triumph TR4 semi-basket cases (a pair) for like $400, but didn't have any moola back then. Still don't have much...haha. Anyway, I ran into an interesting thing today. The car is in great shape - said to have had a newly rebuilt Spitfire engine installed (I haven't ran the numbers yet, haven't researched even where they are), but the engine bay looks exquisite! Anyway, the oil pressure light comes on at idle, and of course goes away when throttling up. I purchased a little mechanical Sun Pro oil pressure gauge kit to put on so I can monitor the actual pressure. I want to 'T' from the existing engine block port to then service both the original oil pressure switch for the dash light and also the new mechanical gauge. So I went to Napa, and based on their replacement oil pressure switch, the engine block port is supposed to have metric 10mm X 1.0 pitch threading, which doesn't play at all with the US NPT brass fittings. Well, I just tried the 1/8" NPT adapter that came with the gauge and it fits perfectly into the block! Not sure if the block was re-threaded upon rebuild or what. If so, now I'm wondering if the oil pressure switch that is in there isn't OEM. Anyway, this is an odd experience. I've dug into the forums here and learned that others have done the same, but with little more information. Has this block been re-threaded you think? Or, is it really OEM a 1/8" US NPT threading? 79 Midget, Spitfire 1500, year unknown. thx- r.

reluctorvalve - 10 X 1mm is a fine metric thread and not very common. Are you sure that what you are looking at is not a 1/8 British Standard Pipe Parallel? The size on that is 0.3970" where as the size of a 10 X 1mm bolt is 0.3937" and the thread count on the 1/8 BSP is 28 TPI straight thread and the 10 X 1mm bolt thread count is 25.4 TPI. It is very doubtful that you will fine the adapter you are looking for in a BSP flavor, but you might consider a 1/8 USPT, which is 0.3970 and 27 TPI. The 1/8 USP will thread into the tapped hole without re-tapping it, bit would be better to run a USPT tap through the hole to get a nicer fit.
Cheers,

Not sure the answer to the question, but,

1. Welcome!
2. You might have more luck posting in the Spridget (Sprite + Midget) forum and,
3. You probably want tonstart a new thread for a question like this (no pun intended BtW) rather than changing the subject mid conversation.

oh, and of course pictures are required ;)

glad you are here!

Reluctorvalve, Welcome to the forum. Your handle takes time to write, so do you have a first name? Bob, George, Sam etc? A lot of us are not typists and are slow typing. Were pretty much on a first name bases here. Much easier to respond to. PJ

Welcome to the forum! Plenty of info on the Spridget side and many of the same people are on several forums. I had a Sunpro oil pressure gauge on my 1275 and tee'd it in with the original to verify pressure.
