Would like to see some pictures of cool aftermarket wheels on MGBs. I noticed the X-rayed MGB had different wheels. What do they look like and where did ya get them? Also, it appears that the "Silver Lady" has some too. Send me some pics or links. I am looking for direct bolt-ons and different than mini, wires, RO's.

Hey Tom,

Welcome to the forum. I’m the owner of the x-rayed MGB here’s what the car looks like when it’s not being turned inside out.

I found the wheels on ebay for about $150. They where made by a company called Western Wheels and are no longer in business. According to the owner the wheels came off of a 240Z he was restoring. If you look through the various posts you see a lot of information on this subject with other cars & wheel patterns compatible with MGBs and will just bolt on.

Good luck!

This wasn’t a big deal at all. The studs remained the same. However I did have to go to an auto parts store for the lug nuts.

Truth is the center caps were the hardest things to find. When I did find something that looked like it might work, they almost always either wanted way too much for them or I was out-bid at the last second by somebody who was willing to pay the outlandish asking price sight unseen. Because of this I ended up having to fabricate my own – using some generic center caps that I picked up at a local tire store that I had to trim off to fit. I then coupled those to a set of Rostyle wheel hub caps and a new set of Black & Silver emblems to finish them off.

Looks almost like they where designed that way don’t they?

The entire set for $150?!? Uh, gee, if anyone else sees bolt on, non-rostlye's for that kind of money, please give me a holler! This is where you tell me that that was 'each'.

Nope! $150 was the price for the entire “set” of wheels. However, I did have to pay about $50+/- for shipping, because of the weight. So let’s round it up to say $200 even. Truth is it I spent about 4 or 5 weeks scanning ebay and other sites for a set of wheels, before settling on these. What I really wanted was a set of Daisy 4 spoke type wheels that were so popular back in the seventies.

Also the wheels did look a little rough when I first got them, and was concerned that I’d been had. But I had’em acid-washed at a car wash, for about $10 each and was very pleased with the end results. My home “fabricated” center caps probably cost me another $40 or $50, but I’m not sure exactly, as most of the used parts I already had in my Garage. After that I had a local tire store mount a new set of 195/70x14s for another $150.

“Prest’O Change’O” an entire wheel & tire combination for the LBC guy on a budget.
