Wheeler Dealer's on Velocity Channel

.... It artificailly inflates regular car prices creating a bubble and making life harder for the true hobbist and folks who do this for a living. It hurts the market in the long-term. Look at what flipping did to the housing market. ....

Bubble? They buy 'em dirt cheap and sell 'em even cheaper (if you count Ed's time). How's that inflating prices or causing a bubble?

If they wanted to make any money they'd be flipping burgers instead.

The housing crash happened because everybody expected to sell for a ridiculous amount more than they had into it and they were getting away for it (for a while) because buyers had even dumber expectations that it would keep going.

..and I see the same thing going on in the classic car market. The high dollar musclecar stuff has aready taken a hit somewhat.

B-J doesn't help matters either. If internet and media doesn't play a role in buying habbits and pricing, then why the big jump in car prices in the last decade?

Remember pre-ebay prices? Things jumped overnight almost with the advent of ebay and the net..

No where in time EVER has a Hemi ANYTHING been "worth" 2.2 MILLION dollars...

$75,000 for a Six Pack somethinorother ?!?!?!

I can remember a time when $1500 bought you one...and I'm not that old. It doesn't matter how much money they "make". Any false market stimulation by posers is bad for everyone. This has been proven time and time again not to mention the fact that it irritates the crap outta me.

It's bad enough folks think these things bring more than they do right now much less some yahoos pumping up the masses about them. Yeah, all fine and dandy if you have everything you've ever wanted or needed already but sucks if you're still hunting.

I HATE "flippers". They produce the same product at a higher price no matter how you look at it.

I almost always buy a car,put a lot of money into it,& sell low.
When I buy a car, that model will almost always go down in price,& after
I sell it,the market goes way up.
Be prepared to sell your Cortinas,& buy up as many TR6's as you can!

Well last night had Bond Car, Isetta, Fiat 500.... Got to be a Peel next, they are just seeing if Edd can fit inside????

That was quite the series last night. Enjoyed it. The Isetta was a hoot (with it's 1 cylinder, 300cc, engine). I'd seen the Bond Bug episode before and skipped it, but hadn't see the Fiat 500 show (which they did a nice job with).

I enjoy the show, but the fact that they never figure all the labor hours involved is a problem for me. Who works for free?

I do. BTW a good friend owns a Bond Bug and has taken me for a drive. Very interesting sensation, especially with the single wheel up front. You hold your breath around corners

I figure they imply that *you* are Edd China, so that "profit" is what you'd make if you did the work he did. They always include any labor fees for work they farm out.

Mostly, I like the show because they focus on the car, and not on the bickering that usually goes with these sorts of shows. Just a piece of light entertainment.
