Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

Silly opto mouse has apparently hit its cat fur limit. Just shut down th' GPU an' tweezed out half a cat from the innards... still "stutters" with the wheel. The opto wheel counter is in an enclosed housing I can't disassemble without making a project of it. feh.

Time for a new mouse.

Yeah, she has NO sense of propriety. :smirk:

MUCH better now. New mousie, scroll wheel works fine but Linux treats 'em all differently. Now I gotta get used to the pointer movement bein' "faster".

...always somefin'...

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

Laser mouse... or whatever they call 'em these days. World of difference.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

Does the new mouse have a tail? I had one without a tail, but it kept on getting sick, so I had to surgically replace it's AA innards every month or so. Ended up going back to one with a tail, no issue since...

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

I've got a tail-less mouse. Should I be calling it a hamster? Batteries last much longer than a month, maybe 5.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

This'n AND the one with th' stutter are both "laser". Cheap. I keep a few new ones lyin' about in case a client calls... Now I owe ME money. *sheesh*

OOooooOOoHHhHh!!! PRETTY red light! ...but why do I see li'l white SPOTS everywhere now?!?!

The "tailless" LogiTech trackballs are my favorites but out here inna garage they get "abused"... and they're kinda pricey compared with these $5 throw-away ones.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

I finally got all my house mouses (meeses?) changed to the Logitech laser units. Much less hassle for me.

I keep my laptop in the garage, and my desktop sits quietly at my desk, mostly unused. I guess I feel more comfortable sitting in the garage typing away.

Not only on these boards, but my new interest, Lister type diesel engines.

For those who don't know what one of these are.

My server is inna garage. It's what I'm on most of the time I post. Linux box.

mmm.... John Galt, morelike.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

All tailless meeces should have a switch to shut them off when not in use. The one on the wifes Dell has. I guess the battery co's wouldn't like that though. The one on my HP lasts about a month. That's 12 batteries a year.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

My whizz-bang Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse never have worked satisfactorily. Replaced the mouse right off the bat, but continued for a year with the keyboard. It gave up the ghost yesterday - computer said all was well, batteries fine, but deader 'n dirt.

Typing on a new Microsoft hard-wired Office Depot special this AM!

The server's prolly wots propping up the back end of the Elan....

at least we've been TOLD there's an Elan in there - couple of eyewitnesses confirm its existence but they probably had a few CABs in 'em and could have been persuaded to perpetuate the myth.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

I'm ignorin' 'im.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

All "real" IT guys use MS servers. That way we can justify the overtime working on the OS.. I built a Linux box, and was having lots of fun with it, but our company got bought out by some corporate weenies from NJ, and took all our cool stuff away.

Glad I am gone from that place. Although I guess I need a job now.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

I've put Linux servers in three of my clients' businesses... you would now have to use crowbars and guns to get 'em to let go of those machines.

Re: Wheel "stutter" in my MOUSE.

Ya nail em in that hard do ya. What do ya do stick em in a closet and wall over the door?
