Wheel painting?

I just finished sand blasting my late Rostyle wheels. Boy was that a pain in the axle! Anyway, I am on a tight budget and would like to paint my wheels a semi-gloss black.

The guy at the big box suggested engine enamel, but he did not seem so sure of himself... can you guys offer any suggestions?

I'm using dupicolor wheel paint

https://www.duplicolor.com/products/wheel.html

silver rim/ graphite inserts and clear over top - one can of each so far (maybe 2 silver as I recall)

I like the results - this from the resoration/ car care forum

They also have a satin black

I'm told rustoleum/Tremclad is also good as it is a flexible paint and will resist flaking/ chipping.

BTW - do the inserts a different colour

I've always like flat silver rims with gloss-black centers.
All Rustoleum.

~Like This~

I notice that UPS trucks use this style too, but I've been doing it for 30+ years
(so I think they probably copied me :jester: )

So are you using a mask for getting all of those little squares painted or spending days masking?

Nial, do you prime before applying the Rustoleum?

JP, it was originally my intention to use Duplicolor wheel paint, but all that is available locally is Kentucky chrome and some hoopty car colors. Blegh!

Blasted two wheels yesterday, older Rostyle, and painted today. I'm also using Duplicolor graphite and silver. These are the last of this set; I still have 4 of the 5 original disc wheels to do yet. Masking isn't bad, I'm about halfway thru Sebring race tape while I do it.
