Wheel Arch Replacement

I am started with the body work on my restoration and I am starting with the DS wheel arch and surrounding erosion. Any tips on what to be careful with? :thirsty:
 
Have your repair panel on hand before you start cutting....& be careful when you start separating it from the inner fender.
 
I have found a few places that have a great depiction and narrative that shows replacing the sills, castle and rocker panels but haven't had any luck finding the same for the front arch. catalogs vary what they offer for panels as well, any recommendations? :thirsty:
 
THAT's why Tony suggests having the replacement panels in-hand before the cutting begins.
 
Wait! Are you doing the front or the rear? Usually when someone mentions 'wheel arch' it's about the rear.

If you're talking about the front, just replace the fender with a good used one! Much cheaper in the long run.
 
I am refering to the wheel arch behind the front wing sometimes refered to as the horn. It is supposed to be protected by the splash panel but over time the seal gives it up and allows road dirt, moisture and stuff to accumalate until it rusts. this time it went too long and also damaged the inner fender as well. I have a parts list from two vendors catalogs and one has a more pieces needed than the other. Tony you are a local distributor for both. What is the best way to get you my list?
 
That little patch panel only costs somewhere around $30 retail (I think - don't have a price list with me)....wherever you get it, don't get the red Taiwan panel....hold out for the black British Heritage panel.

......& definitely do not cut until you have the panel in hand!

You can go ahead & remove the fender for sandblasting & epoxy primer but don't cut until you have the panel to lay next to the affected place.
