Sounds like one of those "better make two of 'em" tools... One to use in the shop and one to STAY in the glove box. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
 
and here I thought you clipped it onto the wiper arms and moved the string left and right to work the wipers

That's where I've seen it.
Actually, I think I just used to use a clothespin.

Why of course it is a trunk safety lock. Bugeyes use em as well.
