What's Your Daily Driver?

Hmm, I don't own anything built after 68, but my wife owns an 08 Toyota RAV4. We tend to drive into work together so I drive that pretty much everyday.

3 series diesel Beemer for the economy as I have a 90 mile (each way) comute three days a week. Her indoors has an old shape 1 series.

Our dailies are my 2005 Scion XB. and my wife's '08 VW Passat Wagon. The Scion has been with us for 8 years with only the regular maintenance and such. It's bumpy on the highway, but gets good mileage, has a ton of room inside for as small as it is and I love to see the jaws drop on the dock workers when I fit washers, dryers, recliners or other good sized items in the back with ease. On the other hand, the VW is a nice car to drive. It has a lot of room, is comfortable and with the turbo it's pretty quick. But we have owned it less than a year, and it has had over $3000 of MAJOR engine work on a car with 70k miles. I give a lot of credit to the dealer we bought it from. He took good care of us, But I am sorely disappointed with VW. I'm torn. VW makes about the only new cars that grab my interest, but I don't think I will buy another one.

68 Austin mini sedan. 1380 cc engine and lots of go power. I drive it to the gym and everywhere within 15-20 miles. Much farther than that and it is LOUD. But still driveable.

I drive a 2012 VW Jetta SportWagen TDI. It's the Swiss Army Knife of cars: Great fuel economy for commuting/grocery getting, can carry a surprising amount of cargo with the seats folded down, can carry 4 adults in comfort, 5 is a squeeze, and it's sporty enough that I can throw it around a bit if I so choose. The only thing missing is AWD capability, which my previous car, a 2008 Subaru Outback, had. I also owned a string of SUVs prior to the Subie, so it was the first time in 16 years that I didn't have a 4WD/AWD vehicle. Been thinking about a vintage Jeep to fill that role...

The Mrs. has our latest acquisition, a 2012 Toyota Corolla S. We had such great experience with our previous 2004 Corolla that it only made sense to replace it with another one. When we got rid of the 2004, it had over 170,000 miles on it...and in that time, it only had two unscheduled repair visits, and the second one came about six months before we got rid of it.

Wife drives a 2005 Sebring convert.(12K). Me in a '98 Dodge Grand Caravan (104K) or a '99 Dodge Dakota (96K). Have been happy with all of them and still am.

My .sig file tells all.

Bought new in 93, my Choo Choo custom as it is today. It's been one great truck and still is. Over 250000 miles on it and it's not even tired yet! :encouragement: PJ

2004 Chevy Impala 9C1 that I can't part with
2006 Pontiac G6 that is slowly taking over from the Chevy

99 Corolla with a 5 speed. Has served well, with almost zero issues over the years. Clear coat is cloudy anymore so not a pretty car, but I can leave it out in the parking lot all day and not worry.

04 ram 1500 total rust bucket,12MPG,trans slippin, valve tappin, last dodge I will ever own truck.
99 saturnsc 5sp, 34MPG drive to work and lovin it car I just bought for $500 W/45K

2013 Volkswagen Passat. 45,000 miles not issues and thirty- to thirty-three MPG. It is a five speed- they tried to sell me the paddle shift saying it was a manual. It is the entry level Passat.

In the warmer months, I drive a 1996 Nissan 300ZX (I am the original owner).

During the winter (an on other appropriate times) I drive a 2010 Ford F-150.

I Actually looked at a couple 300ZX's in my current quest for a daily driver, one of those cars I thought was pretty cool when new, and now they are very affordable. There are still a decent number of them around in good shape, so they must have been built pretty well.

2003 BMW 330Ci convertible, bought used, currently wearing a set of Michelin Alpin snows on separate rims. Replaced a 1992 525Ti wagon that I loved dearly. I see another 5-series wagon in my future.

My wife recently took over my 2007 Honda S2000 as her Daily driver, and it doubles as our tow vehicle, as we use a 4x8 utility trailer instead of owning a truck. In compensation, she bought me a 2015 Porsche Boxster which we special ordered in April and received around Labor Day. So, including the Tiger, no cars with a roof or a back seat. Some days we get home from the office at the same time, it looks like a parade on our street (it's Dec 1st today but mid-60's F so both will be top-down).
