Yeah, you started sumthin Doc. Just ran out and measured mine (original '59 & a steel nut). It's either 1-1/16"th OR 1-3/32"nds. (It looked just that tad bigger than the 1-1/16th to my eye!!). Who's next to the party? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Re: what's the trick to getting a steering wheel o
It's off.
Just looking at the catalogs for a Horn Brush that was ejected from the hub faster than I can move my skull. It's broke, no biggie, but did notice that catalogs have two different retaining nuts.
1 for up to 71, and 1 for 71 on.

As I was replying you must have whacked it good 'n proper! What did the deed?

The 'come along' attached to the wifes tank for constant force while being threatened with a 6lb lump hammer.
It just poppped off and shot me with the brass horn switch.
Not a technique I recommend, but that new wheel looks suhweeeeet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
You were just in the pool, right Doc? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
Re: what's the trick to getting a steering wheel o
mehheh. Post us a pic!
It got up to 82°F today here. Sunny enuff, but no pool. Same attitude with that as with mowing a "lawn" and ownin' a boat. I can enjoy other people's pool/lawn/boat with NONE of the attendant timewasting/resource squandering. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Re: what's the trick to getting a steering wheel o
I'm with you on that! I have a 13" wheel with about 1" step-out from the dash (collapsible Formuling hub behind the wheel)& this feel right! No banging knuckles! Dr. E, I have been wondering, can you ever get it in reverse?... I always heard entropy cannot be reversed??
Re: what's the trick to getting a steering wheel o
I just stumbled into this thread, but I think it has to do with steering wheels. Mine is a 13.5" LeCarra steering wheel. Made in TN. Very comfy, and the nice folks there will let you supply the leather of your choice should you need a custom match. I'm not sure what type of steering wheel I'm going to use on the sprite yet.

Drew, you not get that new wheel yet??

Not yet. I need to shoot him an email and see where he is with it. I wasn't in a big rush, so haven't been pushing him on it at all. Hopefully in the next few months.
