What's the best word to use... [for our import cars British/German/Italian, etc...]

Re: What's the best word to use... [for our import cars British/German/Italian, etc...]

I can understand some of the comments about the vast gray area between what is or isn’t “truly” domestic or foreign. However I don’t think it’s really fair to criticize or belittle those who might make their choice to purchase a vehicle based along nationalistic lines.

I have never criticized those that don’t care one way or another and select their vehicles accordingly. So I don’t think it’s fair to bash folks that have decided not to purchase a vehicle based on their deeply held feelings that are as fresh today at they were in those dark years.

I for one would never try to persuade my wife’s father who served in the Merchant Marines during WW2, that he is wrong for not wanting to buy Japanese or German (or even Italian) vehicle. Likewise wouldn’t I try to tell a person that has worn the uniform, or a family member who lost a loved one fighting Imperial Japan in the Pacific or in the liberation of Nazi occupied Europe.

The thing to remember is that in most cases these folks don’t make their decisions based on bigotry or racism. In other words - those who served & their family members earned the right to make that choices without being criticized for it.

FYI - We lost two family members fighting in the Pacific and one in Europe during WWII. And as I’ve said in the past I think there are many fine vehicles out there that I just can’t bring my self to drive. Not out of hatred, but out of respect for my families loved ones that where lost in that horrible conflict.
