What's so special about this Coil ?

I bought this coil for my 74 TR6 with Pertronix and a ballasted ignition.
It works just fine but it came with this WARNING.

Now what's up with that ?

The nice green Lucas logo on the mounting bracket?
 
Good old American marketing. On the the other hand, if it has less resistance (than OEM) it may shorten the life of the ignition points.
 
Thanks, eschneider. I ran across that, too, when I googled.
The coil is 1.6 ohms.
It is not a super coil or a "sports coil". It's a Standard Coil with 1.6 ohm resistance, just like any other coil suitable for a ballasted ignition.
But why the warning about using it with contat points ?
 
My guess is that somehow the warning got put in the wrong box; or perhaps the coil you got is not the coil you linked to. A Lucas DLB102 is a standard replacement coil, listed for many cars with points, including later TR6.
 
It sure has me puzzled, Randall. It seemed like a safe choice. I'm sure glad I have a Pertronix because I didn't see that warning until I received the coil.
It runs slightly warm to the touch, normal, I'd say.
I just can't help wondering how it could be bad for points.

I finally got my pertronix installed in my B. Used an internal ballasted coil with 3.4 Ohms resistance. Disconnected my switched 12v wire and ran 12 volts from fuse block. Took your advice and used lucar connectors on coil for easy disconnection while working on car with key on!
I thought about Dale, so I put my extra dizzy with the points, cap and rotor in the trunk.
Took off for Gulf Shores, drove the 500 mile round trip, and used less gas than my buddy Chris used in his B and he has OD!
The car idles much better and seems quicker.
Next month I'm going to convert the TR3, but I think that I'll still bring the spare dizzy with points--just in case--

I don't quite follow the wiring switch that you mention, but if it works....
Even Pertronix, in their "wonderful" instruction sheet recommends keeping your old points and condensor.... wonder why ?
I'm knocking on wood here, but mine has been trouble free.

No my friends dad has a house right on the water at The Cove.
Watched the sailboats come in, drank whiskey, and watched football. The weather was fantastic for lbcs', 70 degrees, sunny- The kind of
day these cars were built for. Just ideal!
My B is a 74, and has a double wire hook up, with 12V for starting and, a resister wire for running(6-9V) so to use the internal resister coil, I had to have a full time 12V source.
I just reassembled the TR3 engine, having installed the one piece rubber rear seal. Drove it around campus,saw one of my buddys who wanted to try it out.
After a 400 yard trip, he said in amazement "this car has balls"
High praise!! I can hardly wait on the body work.

OK, I know what you mean now about the resistor wire. I remember back in the day, those TR3's were bad. I know I wasn't looking to drag any of um.
