What's on your workbench?

OK, here's a messy one for the few who are reluctant to post pictures.

Basil, that looks very clean and organized to me. Lots of work space, too! I must admit however that peg board is banned from my home entirely.

I hate peg board too! I want to do a major renovation on my garage one of these days and there will not be any peg board!

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thankyousign.gif I am saving the photo of your workbench so I can show husband, Doug, what a 'real' workbench looks like.

Well now that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

LOL @ Greg! Actually your photo made me smile and jump forward in my seat to look at all the "stuff".

I see Healey power leaning on the right and a big arse wooden mallet on the left. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

If you look closely, behind the SS exhaust is that 215 V8 I tried to pawn off on you a while ago. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif

Very nice work areas. If I were to say I wasn't
jealous, I'd be lying. I wanna be more like you
guys. I'll keep inching my way.

My wife's girlfriend says her dad is so organized...
sorts his socks and underware by style and color.
Never mixes 'em up. If it should happen somehow,
he yells.

You're trying to pawn off the wrong engine to me. Spark plugs aren't supposed to face each other. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

2wrench, it doesn't cost anything to be clean and organized. Just commit yourself to one weekend of dirty work, and your next job will be so much nicer! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I guess I'd better stay out of this...

Mine looks like Fibber Magee's closet. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Mine too!! It's so bad I know the general direction to start digging/moving stuff in which to find it!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Bro came over once and "tidied" mine up, took 6 months to put it all back into the mess where I knew where to find things, ie at the front for the latest, at the back them gonna get back to jobs
A clean desk is a sign of a sick mind!

I guess I'm the oddball -- I like pegboard. Can find the tools easily, and doesn't take up valuable floor space in a small garage.

I've got plans for a complete garage interior redesign; just need to find the time to get to it...

We have this stuff here called slat wall. It's neat stuff but I think I'll keep the walls clean for memorabilia and so forth. I've got about 2 dozens old Lic. plates I keep on the doors now but am always on the lookout for more cool stuff to hang.

I like the IDEA of peg board. Hanging tools on the wall gives easy access to the ones you use most. But the peg board itself is terrible. It breaks easily, the hooks constantly fly off (major pet peeve) and it looks bad (imho).

In a shop I used to work in, we replaced the peg board at each work station with plywood. Each commonly-used tool was hung from a nail with an outline of the tool painted onto the wood, then filled in with a color. That way the tools always returned to their correct places in the bay from which they came from. If I were hanging tools at home, I would do something similar to this.

One thing you don't see in my garage is the rack for hanging air tools. They take up far too much space in a tool box.

Well, guess I'm in trouble...peg board everywhere - white at that......here's the one that wraps around 3 sides of my workshop:

I haven't had too much trouble with the peg board, but the peg-flying-off is somewhat of an issue. I like the idea of the plywood & nails approach. Once I've got my space finalized, I'll probably go this route. Besides, nails are cheap. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
