Ok I will try to get pics soon. It has original SOLID floorpans , replacement carpet, new paint,Have all original parts but have made some chsnges to make it a dependable driver ie. webber conversion with cannon aluminum intake pace setter header, crane optical ignition new top and aluminum valvecover. I will get pics soon...as we have several inches of snow on the ground here. I also drove by the MG shop in Manchester Mass. a lil while back when I was working in Taunton. Was late and no one home tho. My wife and I have discussed selling the Midget bcause we just dont ride it any at all. So I guess I will just see where it goes. Thanks for any and all replies.

Try looking on Craigslist for some in your area you can compare it to. That will not tell you how much they are selling for but should give you an idea what others are asking.
(there is a difference)

A used car is worth what it is paid to purchase it

Maybe your question should be, "what is the greatest amount that someone might pay me for my car if I can find that person"

Not trying to be a smartie but the two different valuations could vary immensly.

If you feel you have a car that should bring a certain amount of money because of model (and condition) then you will need to market it nationwide and be prepared to document everything- spend hours on the phone with ever expert on MG midgets in the country. They will be calling you and coming up with all types of weird stuff to tell "you" about "your" car. Then be prepared to wait for a real buyer,

Or do you just want to sell the car for a certain figure and be done with it. Then pick a price that you would pay for a used compact car in your cars condition. Remember MGs or only worth something to the Mentally misguided and hopeless romantics

If the latter is your wish, advertize it locally and all the forums that deal with MGs, and maybe you can find someone that will love your car as much as you loved it at one time giving them a good deal and feeling good about it. . From what I have seen actualy sell the prices have been $1500.00 to $3500.00 with the exceptional priced car setting not being sold.

Also March to June will be the time to sell for most money, Your area of the country should be a easy sell if you can park on busy hwy.

And one more thing, you will be sorry you sold in it in about two years, and you will pay a outlandish price for another one in half the condition. Do your self a favor and winterize, get off the ground, put in a dry place, fill the trunk interior full of rat posion then cover it in blankets..then forget about it. you will never want another one as long as you have that one. (I will store it for you)

Is and has ALWAYS been garage kept....never spent any time outside other than drive time....I know the original owner and I am the third owner the man I bought it from put it in storage for 12yrs and I finally talked him out of it . I understand the whole value thing , but i am only looking for a ballpark number . I will be taking itto Gatlinburgh Tn. for te MG Weekend and see what it brings. Just dont have an enclosed trailer and I dont think they will let me bring her into my motel room. so I am concerned avout it being outside overnight.

JRC - there is still a lot of info missing to help answer your question, including detailed pictures of her condition etc. It is going to be hard for the guys to help you get a potential price range until then....

Are the 25th anniversary edition any more rare than any othe MG? One thing I would like to replace is the dashpad as mine is cracked near the top, and I cant find a replacement with the embossed area for the anniversary emblem.

Not really anymore valuable...especially when your dash needs replacing - there are none, unless you find one in somebody's parts stash...but, an old one is probably in the same shape as yours.

Off the top of my head I'd say an RB Midget with fresh paint in nice driver condition can be expected to bring $3500 to 4K at the top end with marketing and patience at the height of the buying season (spring/early summer).
Just my gut 2 cents after making a hobby of watching Midgets for sale for a couple years on ebay and craigslist. A couple very nice ones have been for sale by me all summer for asking prices around 4 and they never sold, they were both chrome bumper ones at that.
Not that someone may not be happy to pay more if they fall in love with it, hard to find that person though.

As someone who also has a '76 the reality is that rubber bumper Midgets are the least valuable of all the models. Anniversary edition does not really add to the value unless someone really wants it. Part of the problem is that the anniversary was just a decal package that was added on to sell the car, and no one at British Leyland kept track of what were anniversary or not.

Assuming you are talking about only the top of the dash cracked, you can buy a top for it from Moss.

Looking at Ebay - you are talking 2-5k for a solid #2 car. I would suggest 4-7k for a #1 car, the problem you face is that (especially in the USA) 5-7k will buy you a really sound MGB - especially a rubber bumper.

The bottom line that everyone thus far doesn't want to say (because we all have our envelopes of bills for what we have put into our cars) is that unless you are talking a Bugeye, they are all worth less than we think they should be - and by extension, yours is also worth less than you imagine it should be. You cannot restore a Spridget for less than it costs to buy one and unlike other makes, originality, councours etc don't make a huge difference.

Not great news - but they are a heck of a lot of fun and well worth keeping.

Thanks for the info, actually that was what i was asking....will be ok with4 to 5k for mine and I honestly think I can get that. I do understand about the value of the MG and I have to move something im outof room in my 25X36 garage. I will be making room this spring and who knows after i sell a few motorccles and ATV's Suzuki samurai, I may just have room to keep it. The 5 ATV's and riding mower and small tractor take up alot of space. Just gotta sell off some toys to make room.

sounds like you'd be in the ballpark with 4-5 - though I've had a Midget and a Samurai and I'd vote Midget

yeah, unless there is someone who had one EXACTLY like yours and wants to drive down memory lane, don't expect top dollar (or expect what you're expecting). People are always surprised how little $$$ it takes to buy one of these. IMO, they are the best drivers as they can easily live in the real world w/o allot of worries. RB's for example, are greant in a Wal Mart parking lot. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a Bugeye there though.

Unless you HAVE to get rid of the car, keep it. Like he said, if you get rid of it you will regret it and wind up paying double for half the car later on.

I paid $1500 for my no rust, never wrecked California car w/ hardtop a few years ago. You couldn't give me $5000 for it now....and it would NEVER bring that. I know what I have and I'll never be able to replace it for what I have in it. I couldn't get the car shipped here for that. Keep the car or sell it to me CHEAP !!!! :jester:

(No, really, KEEP THE CAR !!!)

Best way to figure what you'll get on one of these is figure up what you got in it and divide by two, possibly four, and that'll get you in the ball park.

The P.O of mine had about $4000 in it. I currently have $3500 in it...and it still needs paint.

It's our wedding car so it aint goin' nowhere EVER. I don't care how much I have in it or "what it's worth". This is almost the absolute worst time to sell one of these. The only way it could be worse is if it was last month or so ago. The ecomomy aint helpin' either.

Keep it, ATV's are easily replaced. Can you store them outside?

Yours sounds like it might be a nice car.
