What's for dinner?

I had to look up "haunch" - I learned something new today! (sounds like what we call "thigh" in the US) The meal sounds wonderful!

We called 'em that when we were living in Sewickley, got 'em from th' ol' "Fish & Poultry" store on Market an'at, too.

Lived in a big yellow house on Broad Street, just a few houses up from th' Ohio River Boulevard.

Homemade chili and cornbread this evening!

Tonight - grilled swordfish, sweet potatoes, broccolini & salad.
Wife is great cook.
I thought we were out of beer but cook says there's one bottle of Yuengling lurking in the back of the fridge.
We have fish about 3 times a week. More in Florida.

New England boiled dinner!

Pot roast, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, parsnip, rutabaga (!), onion, flour pudding (dumpling) - slowly simmered for several hours until *really* tender (a/k/a cooked to death)

Cavit cabernet sauvignon

Cherry cobbler

Baked Ziti with 3 cheeses tonight. Mmmmmmmmm.

Got family in town so I got the oven fired up last night for bread this morning.

The oven.jpg

This morning it was about 450. Did the bread.

Later got the pork shoulder and turkey ready to go in about 12 noon.

The turkey was done at about 4.00 and the shoulder a bit later. The turkey bones are in a big pot now boiling up for soup stock.

Great way to cook. I built it with the help of a forum similar to this one. Everyone is very helpful with tips and suggestions.
