Spitfire Whats a Spit worth.

Just looked at a 1977 Spitfire, usual story. Been sitting for 13 years under tarp part of the time. Doesn't run, interior shot. Soft top shot, poor left rear quarter panel repair, crack showing in old bondo. Rust all 4 corners.
Engine will turn over by hand, and I could not get any free play to show in crankshaft.
I was prying at the damper center as the clutch hydraulics are shot.
Anyone want any other parts off it? The nose is pretty good.
Asking 500.00 or obo. Offered 200.00 as I want the crankshaft.
Said he would let me know.
What's a 1500 Spit engine worth?

Buy the engine, get the car for free. Knackered Spits seem to be +/- $500 to $1K, but that isn't a scientific opinion.

Well my last Spitfire was given to me on this board. If all you want is the cranksaft, I have one I may part with. I don't think I will be rebuilding another 1500. Shipping would be a bear though. Check ebay. I see cranks for 1500s going pretty cheap there.

That sounds very similar to the 79 I bought for 200$. Mine had a hardtop though. If you are just using the crank I might take the block off your hands.

Sorry the car does not have overdrive. However I saw this and maybe you can talk him into packing it up and shipping it.
Quantumechanics puts them into a cardboard box that is in a cardboard box with some packing material on each end and they ship fine.

I'll keep watching.

Tell me about it. I just can't pass up a deal
