Why would someone try to make any car look like a 1953 Studebaker??? They were nice enough in their day, but why pick on a poor Spitfire to do it??

Pontiac front badge and a fart-can exhaust... what more can you ask for? Even comes with free seat duct tape and shoddy engine wiring!

There might be $200 worth of Triumph parts on it but what to do with the rest of the junk?

If you could get it for 200 you'd be better off keeping it in running condition and donating it for a decent tax break.

Sad thing is, Raymond Loewy's '53 Studebakers had STYLE. This car has...issues?

"Gosh, Beav, dad's gonna kill you when he sees what you did to his car...."

He got tired of "Hey buddy, izzat an MG?"

Paul,

A guy at the flaps yesterday had a 54 Studebaker with a 355 V8 Eldebrock and 650 Holley. A old geezer that really hacked the poor old Stude up but he was proud. Looked like Caddy bucket seats, big chrome tach on the dash, mismatched tires, battery relocated to the rear (because the front tray had rusted - like our TRs.) He said it was a rare 2-door model but I could see where he welded up the rear doors and Bondo'ed over the gaps. Burgundy metallic and was lookin' some sharp, NOT. But not a bad car nonetheless if you don't look too closely. Hey, it's a 54 and paid it's dues. I'm a 53 afterall and my horn is in the back.

But alas - no Pontiac badge on the hood!

Ugh, and it's somewhere around here too. hmm a 200 dollar parts car. nah, too much work to store.

I like the quote about the fiberglass hard top.

Funny, my Spit has never run hot, but then it hasn't run lately either so I can't say anything.

Thanks for the heads up about this pathetic Spitfire running around here. I am now prepared in case I run into it.... I've place a large brown bag on the front seat of my car. If I happen to come across the offending eyesore I just pop that bag over my head and voila!
Wonder who would buy it?... maybe the three-blind-mice :jester:

Some people just don't appreciate art when they see it.

What's a "high performance ballast"?

I think it would look better on a TR3. Not mine, mind you, but perhaps for some other volunteer!

And winner of best quote of the day:

Hope you're not running too rich Peter, beware the backfires..

I can think of a couple of other items to add to the part of the list entitled "The Bad..."
