Is there any information out there on what they intend to produce? What will the New MG be like? Will it be available in the west?
I'd be willing to forgive the smarmy "Modern Gentleman" stuff as long as they didn't plaster it all over the car, and didn't make it too obvious, and the new MG had much the same character as the older ones. But that's probably far too much to expect. I have a sinking feeling that these guys just don't get it.

I posted this same comment on the site where this annnouncement was made. I think we need some perspective...
Two letters - that’s all Nanjing bought. This trivial transaction did not eviscerate the British motor industry - the British motor industry was responsible for its own demise, and in my opinion the MG name has no relevance any more - the relevance died in the pointless wreck of Austin-Rover. If Kimber Group were serious about producing cars, they wouldn’t let the unavailability of those two letter stop them. Where is the Kimber Group car that might otherwise have been called an MG? Nowhere. I love my LBC, a 1958 Bugeye, and will preserve it for ever, and will not be parted from it, but please let’s move on and drop the pointless nostalgia.

Well said, Chris. My comments above aside (mostly given in jest), my opinion is that the classic British car industry (Triumph, MG, Austin Healey specifically) died truly in the late Seventies. Some managed to survive, but the ones I loved the most are long gone into history.
I'll keep my little Bugeye and drive and preserve it for my own enjoyment, and for those who come after.

That's why we all own OLD ones guys...there are no more NEW ones!! Lets keep them alive!!! I can see the Chinese marketing now...it will surely feature gents like those chaps from the Top Gear episode of the Spidget vs. the rice-burner (Tweeds and whiskers)at the hill climb, or Chinese look-a-likes of them!!!
