TR2/3/3A What year is this TR3 ??

1959 for sure and most likely second, maybe third week of April ....... as per Pigggott's Originality Guide.

I just found that the TR Registry lists TS50416LO as having been built on April 23rd of 1959 so that would put yours maybe a couple of days later. The Certificate would be the final word, however.

I agree. Mine is TS47905L, built on 4/15/59. I think that may have been the last day of production of the pre-TS50000 features and they skipped to TS50000 (or perhaps TS50001) leaving a gap of 2000 or so numbers.

Assuming production of, say, 80 cars per day, I would guess yours was built around April 24, 1959 give or take a few days. But that's just a guess.

You mean we can't track this down to the precise hour of the day this car was completed???

I didn't see that reply, honest. Now I'd say 4/24 is very close.

BTW, 4/24/59 was a Friday.

For some reason the Heritage Certs don't show the time of the build, but the data apparently exists as the production record I got from the US source (Joel Rosen?) shows mine was built between the hours of 3 and 4pm.

Yes, I know you were almost kidding, but (some) inquiring minds want to know.

Not possible. They would have been on their tea break then; probably planning their next strike.

Mine is TS51339L and it was built May 4, 1959 (which was a Monday).

Gap notwithstanding, you can get some idea of how many TRs Triumph was cranking out during this period with the following reference point: I used to own TS73624L, which was built 4/15/60!

My 1958 TR3A was "born" on Friday Feb 14th, 1958 - st. Valentines Day.

I love this Forum... Jose asked a question that could be answered with '59' but we manage to make it into a lengthy discussion.

BTW -- JohnBazzano is going to see if Joel Rosen can still provide build info for the TR2s & 3s.

Yes, Joel can provide this info. You have to join TRA, but even so, it's still way cheaper than a BMHIT Certificate. And then you're in TRA, too.

Does joining the TRA get you factory build records for all your Triumphs (including TR4A's)? I was a member 20+ years ago when I just had the first TR4A and don't recall getting anything then.

Sorry, TRA only has records for TR2 and TR3, not including TR3B.
