What would you ask for a earlier style top, tonnea

When I got my 1500 a few years ago it came with a AMCO top, tonneau and boot top that didn't fit that model. I think its for an earlier model.

At this point I want to sell them but have no idea what a reasonable price to ask would be. Does anyone have an idea what to ask I would appreciate it.

I have pictures of them at the bottom of this webpage:
Top for 1500

Thanks for any suggestions

It doesn't look like it's Midget-sized. The lift-the-dots on the back edge of the tonneau and hood cover look MGB to me.

The front of the tonneau is way too curved to be spridget. I think its a B one too. If I were selling them, I would probably ask 50-75 for the top or tonneau and probably 30 for the cover. Depending on condition, flexibility, clarity of the windows ect.

Want to mail the top to me and see if it fits my Mk2 Sprite?
If it does I'll make you an offer.

Thor, I sent you a PM - I'm actually interested in the top if it will fit my car.

I thought it was time to update this thread.

Thor sent the top to me, at first I didn't think it would fit.

I worked at it, pulled and pulled and stretched it.
It's an AMCO top in good condition, but had shrunk a bit.

At first I tried putting it on with the top bow in place, then I thought I'd try without the frame and just use the roll bar.
I could get it in place and almost fastened that way.

After more pulling and tugging it fastened. I left it like that out in the sun for a while then unhooked it and put the bow back in place.
More tugging and pulling and I got it fastened with the top bow in.

This is with the top bow in the lower position, it has the spring loaded sides.
Also without opening the frame. After a while it stretched to where I could get it open. I am hoping if it sits on the car for a long time it will loosen up a bit.

Thanks Thor, I really needed a top and now I have one and it's actually a nice looking top with clear windows.

I have TWO NOS Amco tops for my bugeye that unfortunatly are both shrunk. Yeah, I bit twice on E-bay just because Amco tops are such great tops.
I figured that with enough patience and a hot sunny day it would be possible to fit them. Don't know if I have that much patience but I imagine if you get them fitted and drive a ways they will stretch even more.
Probably resell on E-bay but I will be honest about there condition.
Too bad we can't get that quality today.

Kurt.

Sounds like your real problem is that on hot sunny days you need to be attending your farm, not working on your cars, and when you have time to work on your cars, its freaking ass cold outside.

I asked my 10 year old daughter to find the hole punch yesterday afternoon.

She asked why...

So after she located it I asked her to come along while I got my circlip tool and then found an old tonneau and removed a tenax fastener.
Then we went out to the Sprite and I showed her the top was missing a fastener on one side where my car had a stud.
We marked the place on the top and punched a hole, then I showed her how to put the fastener through the hole then screw on the back side and tighten it with the circlip tool.
Then we fastened the top to the car just like it was on the other side.

I don't know if she's going to learn to stop asking me "why?" or if she's going to ask more often...

any conversation you have with your daughter is a good one - let's pray she keeps asking her father for the next 8 years.

:iagree:

We have 4 girls, ages 10 - 21.
Our boys are 12 and 18.

There comes a point when they all seem to decide that their parents are idiots and they are embarrassed to be around us in public or private.
Our older girls have passed beyond that and our two youngest children haven't arrived there yet.

It is nice to show them these things and talk to them about what you're doing and why and once in a while they will talk about what's going on in their lives.

At least until they hit 13 or 14 or 15, That's when we become stupid and they say they hate us.
Until they get to 16 or 17 or 18 or whenever. Then by some magic we become good and smart and they love us again.

Wait...I can use a circlip tool on a Tenax?
You just saved me a wad of money. Thanks!!

Yet another trick shown me by BillM.

Hehe, thought everyone knew that. Sorry.
