What Was Your Favorite Car In The Past?

The MGA is what started all this crazy-ness for me.

...Sorry, but was not my 1st LCB, but a '72 pre "L" Pantera, sure wish I had it back!

I thought he would have puched the ejector seat button. Nice vid. Thanks for sharing that.

Hi Folks,

For myself; surely my `67 Jag OTS. Old English White with a Burgundy Int. My `61 Jag OTS only from a monetary standpoint!

"GRACE, SPACE and PACE" forever!

Russ

Yes I did. Sold it to buy a house. Young man heard about it from a classic car dealership in Natick, Massachusetts, I remember when I told him the price he didn't even try to haggle. I don't remember what I got for it but I do know it accounted for most of the downpayment on the house. I probably sold it for less than I should have but dollars are dollars and I was happy. Again bad husband didn't know I had bought a house until it came time for him to sign the mortgage papers. I shouldn't be dumping on him but sometimes the feelings never go away. I understand he is a much different person now and at last has finally grown up.

My late New Years resolution is to not talk ill of the first husband!!! I promise!!! There - it is now in 'print.'

Somewhere in my collection I hace a sales brochure for the 1974 Pantera. I was in college...lusting....and had no money. For some reason, I seem to remember the sticker price at about $USD 10k.

Back in '69, I got to see the prototype for the DeTomaso Mangusta, which later was "Americanized" and became the Pantera! I had forgotten about that one!! That car got the juices flowing!!!

My personal favorite, out of all I have owned is a toss up. 73 MGBGT. Great car, had it for years, and still miss it. GHD5UD 312620G Sold it in 1990, and still remember the vin. Next, and not least, my 64 Catalina convertible. Got hit by a young girlie in my neighborhood, right between the front frame rails. Totalled the Cat, and her dad-blagged tercel DROVE away!!!!!. What a waste of a great car. Unfortumately we both had the same insurence Co, and we were "both found to be at fault", and they declined to pay.Craptastic!!

Yea, I think thats what they were, I bought mine in '78 for 8K, it was kind if a barn find, the attached was the day I picked it up. I restored it and had it for 15 years.
Funny thing tho, I get more interest and comments with my present Healey / Chevy than I got with the Pantera.

I had (still have) a desire for rare expensive cars...
Let me go ahead and get the italians out of the way first:

Lamborghini Miura S
Alfa Romeo Typo 33 Stradale
Lancia Stratos
Maserati Khamsin
DeTomaso Mangusta (and there are some here in the states)
Ferrari 250 SWB
Ferrari 512 Boxer
and yes, a Countach, but more like the original 1972 prototype - without all the ugly wings and scoops tacked on.

And now the rest of the unobtainables from my wish list:
Ford RS200
Jaguar D type
Lotus Esprit Turbo
Lotus 11
Vector W2
Cosworth Escort
Delorean
Porsche 959
Porsche 550
BMW M1
Mercedes 111

And I'm sure there are others.

Favorite that I will never own is the Jag "D".
Favorite that I do own, 1960 MGA roadster.

paup161, my dad had a 1951 Studebaker champion,kind of a "khaki" color,
My first car was a 51 Champion that I bought in 1972 for 10$ It was yellow and wouldn't run until I corrected the firing order. I loved the suicide rear doors, electric overdrive and hill holder clutch/brake thingy. I had big plans for it but ended up selling it for 75$ My favorite american car was my 70 Jeep Renegade. My favorite of all time is my current driver, the one in my avatar.

I had a Studebaker Champion when I was stationed in Gitmo Bay, Cuba for over 2 years. My wife hated the car and wouldn't drive it. It wasn't the prettiest thing to look at being a Mossy green in color, but it drove like a dream and rode nice. It always reminded me of a sub in, "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" with it's 360 degree view!

Mk-I Lotus Cortina, along with the sigfile list of the ones I now have. Out of the bunch, the Elan S-3 is the list topper.

After having my memory jogged by Vping in another thread, I have to change my choices and hands down say that my uncles Jag XK120(probablty THE car responsible for me becoming a car nut at the age of six!!) HAS to be my choice!

Owned: Rover P6, Porsche 996C4S
Wanted: Ferrari Testarossa, Jensen CV8, Alfa 8C2300.
