What was under your tree

She made all the arrangements. Picked out the color of stayfast canvas that matches the interior amazingly well, and had the top made. It was under the tree waiting yesterday morning.

She's a keeper.

Mine couldn't be bothered. :frown:

Mine and Santa have made it very clear that while they love me and are happy I have the car - they don't understand what parts are required and were to get them - so, not to expect things in that area. - I don't mind

OK, I'm a New-be here. Is this the time that we start exchanging gifts? I love that Red Top. It would look perfect on my Old English Sprite. Can we see some pics whilest in place? Better yet, how about a series of shots as you install it for the first time for us'ins that are not there yet and hope to be soon. Thanks, and I'm just kidden about traden. I'm perfectly happy with my treasures. I dido the earlier comments on eating up the book Tuning the A-Series Engine.

This;
She's a '67. Merry Christmas to me! Also, I just installed the new top.

Ooooh nice!

Like JP, my "Santa" is fine with my car affliction, but she is hopeless at knowing what's what on these cars.

If I left it to her, she'd probably order a 4-barrel carb or something.....

So I "helped".

As a result, "Santa" has gotten me a new Kirkey race seat for ~The Teapot~

Non-car wise, I got a keen Marshmallow Shooter.
Squirrels beware! :jester:

She is a keeper, but normally, my wife stays away too and just puts up with my obsession. . This is the second car in 30 years that she has liked and became semi-involved with. She just doesn't truly understand the affliction. She knows the car is an MG Midget but that is about it. She had no idea about things like, a MK 1 takes a different style top from the others ect. My daughter said she stressed and worried over the top, and almost gave up a couple times. Especially when the shop said that it was an unusual, special order color and she could not return it if it was an error on her part, only if it was an error on their part. She spent hours on the phone with the lady from the top place, who by the way was fantastic. Between them they got everything exactly right.

Several months ago I emailed EZ tops asking for some fabric samples. I saved them in my MG stuff for later. She slipped the samples and phone number out and used that. She correctly ordered the stayfast canvas after listening to me moaning about vinyl tops...

Well, I live alone, except for my best buddy, Max, so I shop for the two of us. I had picked out a 46" flat panel TV and decided I'd pick it up after Jan. 1 to avoid the crowds.

Monday of this week I had Max in for a checkup and the Vet found several lumps; Max, being a Boxer, has had a history of them in the past. Several were large and the biopsy revealed they were cancerous.

The directive given the Vet was to treat Max as if he was her own dog; to proceed with the surgery only if his life could be one of quality, not just longer. This type of decision is not about an owner's selfish interests...at least not in my book.

Yesterday he went in for surgery and had 14 cysts and tumors removed, some as small as your little fingernail and a couple up to quarter size. All of these surfaced since his last scan in August. Today he's resting on his bed in the living room (snoring up a storm)!

At this point the prognosis is quite good. The pathology report will hopefully confirm that a good margin was in place around each nodule that was removed. If all goes as we hope, Max may very well have several more very good years; time for a LOT of top down rides in the country.

When presented the bill the technician was almost apologetic; I told her not to worry "...I was going to buy a TV, but that can wait. I'll get it next year...AND...Max and I can watch it together.

A great Christmas for me...and Max!

Ray

I'm so glad that you caught those tumors early! Many more Happy rides and Holidays ahead!

Max is lucky he has you.

Great story Ray, glad to hear Max is on the mend. Harry our Peke-A-Poo was happy for all of the company yesterday but just as glad to have some peace and quiet bqck after the grandkids left.

and as for me, a NOS Set of Wheel Bearings for Bugsy to fix his woobly wheels and get him back on the road. Temps in Dayton mid -60's as we speak. Weather gets nasty later today but Bugsy may get out for a ride, woobly wheels and all for a little exercise. No salt left on the streets after monsoons the last few days.

Great move Mac. Max is a lucky guy, but then that is the compact we make with them when they are puppies.

Where would we be without our four legged kids/friends? So glad to hear about Max. I got the TV. It ain't worth it, I still spend more time with the pooch than watching the TV. Besides, if it warm, it's time to go for a drive, if it's cold it's time to work on the Sprite getting ready for the next time it's warm. I can't convince mine to wear goggles yet, but I never did but into that saying about old pups and new tricks.
Just got back from a tour around the country roads here in the central Ohio area (low 60s)and I encourage you to go for it Jim. Just remember to take the cell phone. Happy motoring and keep your wheels on. Magyar

I spent hours (and hours) color/cut matching diamonds for my wife's "3-stone ring". I could have bought a nice Healey or a TC for what the stones/platinum setting cost. 3+ carats. Thanks BlueNile.

I got some sweatpants and a new wallet. Truth be told, I spent 7mos in Krakow/Prague on an ex-pat assignment last fall and she dealt with the house/kids. She earned it.

beautiful! and I am sooooo glad my wife doesn't read these boards

We picked up a late Christmas gift today from the SPCA. It is a 5 year old beagle to keep our elderly beagle company. We have been looking for months for a mate, and today was a good day. Where our old dog Snickers was a hunting dog and was not use to being inside, it looks like Buddy is going to fit in nicely. He is asleep at my wife's feet at the moment. I think he will enjoy the rides a little more.
I got a fire extinguisher for the car, but have had a great time with our three girls.

I received a car cover from California covers in anticiaption of a soon to be completed exterior painting.

Mark

I got a $100 gift certificate from Moss which was promptly used to order a badge bar with lugs for driving lights. This is part of my Spring project for Little Blue my 65 Midget.
Along with the nifty Advanced Auto Wire Fog/Driving relay setup this should be just the ticket for the Hella Fogs and Cibie driving lamps I have which will be mounted as soon as we warm up a bit.Gonna look like a rally car yet!
Also splurged the Xmas dough from my in-laws on new genuine English rear springs from Winner's Circle!
The ones from Victoria are sagging terribly after 4 years and only 3500 miles!

Bill L. Don't want to hijack the thread but- The Windblocker works great on my 65 but you need to insulate the firewall as the loss of the breeze can make the cockpit hot in summer. Tim Nagy is going a bang up job continuing the Windblocker series I started in 02 and sold to him when I moved 2 years ago.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

GPS, pair of 2-way radios, new stereo for garage were the bigee's.
